Two Different Episodes

I've seen two very different episodes of this show. Format in the same in both. One is great viewable, the other is somewhat poor.

The good episode features lovely performances of "Getting to Know You" and "Nevertheless (I'm in Love with You)". She's a good singer, though perhaps not great, she's hugely charming. There are various segments, the highlight of which is "Wish Day". A poor kid, in this case an African-American(!!), appears, receives some gifts/toys, and tells Betty that he once saw a UFO. Betty says that they may be friendly!! The overall effect is, well, charming. The "wish day" song is sung to the tune of "Happy Birthday to You".

The "bad" episode features some indifferent songs, some poor commercials (even in the 1950s, daytime commercials seemed to have been inferior to prime-time ones), and an uninterested, slightly sad kid during the "wish day" segment.

Of course, this is daytime TV, and live TV at that. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but even the "bad" episode is interesting to see. One can only hope that more episodes exist of this show.

For the record, two other shows are called "The Betty White Show". One is a late-1950s prime-time variety-comedy series, and the other is a 1970s sitcom.
