The Cold War Museum is housed in a former box factory at the foot of the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn. It is part of Proteus Gowanus, an interdisciplinary arts space founded by Sasha Chavchavadze, who also happens to be the daughter of a Soviet-era CIA agent. With its waterlogged books and curling photographs, the place has an odd, static feel, as though the air »

It’s hard to believe that a gigantic, empty room could inspire such a rush of geeky joy. But then, this isn’t just any empty room – this is stage eight at Elstree Studios, and the spot on which I’m currently standing, grinning like a lunatic, is where, among many other films, 1981’s Raiders Of The Lost Ark was filmed.
Remember the moment when Indy ran from a gigantic rolling boulder, or the bit where he was lowered into the snake-filled Well of Souls? That was shot here. The sand and snakes are all long gone, of course, but somehow the magic still remains, a miasma that hangs in the air, transforming this enormous yet unassuming space into somewhere utterly remarkable.
Meredith Vieira may have said goodbye to her job as co-anchor of the Today show, but don't use the "R" word around her. "It's funny. When I left Today and people asked me what retirement was like, I said, 'What are you talking about? I'm not retired!'" she tells Parade. Vieira, 57, has said she left the job in part to spend more time with her husband, journalist Richard Cohen, who has secondary-progressive multiple sclerosis. Poll: TV Won't Be the Same Without...But she's still working - and has gigs as a special correspondent for Today and host of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. »

Who wants to be a millionaire? Loads of poor saps, it seems
'Unlimited income appeals to me," says Sarah, "I find the whole idea of having a job is quite ridiculous." Sarah is 18 years old and £4,500 in debt, having rinsed her credit card to pay for an entire shelf of get-rich-quick books, attendance at money-making seminars and some questionable tutelage from a self-styled pair of wealth gurus. Look closely and you can actually see the cartoon dollar symbols popping from her eyes. She has even converted beleaguered boyfriend Rhys, who has just come out to his parents as a closet millionaire-in-waiting, meaning he won't be attending university. No need.
Less Panorama spesh, more Louis Theroux gawk-athon, Money: Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? (BBC2) served as an ambivalent introduction to the dubious world of wealth gurus, who make their millions convincing poor saps like Rhys and Sarah that with just »

Sonakshi Sinha has revealed that she is to appear on screen with her actor father Shatrughan Sinha for the first time. The 24-year-old actress has so far only appeared as a guest on the special celebrity edition of the Indian version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? hosted by Shatrughan. She told Hindustan Times: "Dad and I will look fabulous on screen together. I know he's been wanting to work with me. "But he's a busy man, and fortunately, I also have some work to boast about. The day we land a good script, even if it's not a home production, we'll (more) »

This morning, Regis Philbin blew a kiss and said goodbye to his loyal morning show audience of more than 28 years.
Philbin, 80, has been a ubiquitous presence on America's small screens for 50 years, from The Joey Bishop Show in the 1960s to millennial game show hit Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, and holds the world record for most time on television, with approximately 17,000 hours.
This morning, surrounded by family, friends and crying admirers, including his Live with Regis and Kelly co-host Kelly Ripa, Philbin celebrated his final hour on the program with a joyful look back at his career -- sprinkled, as always, with Philbin's trademark spontaneous wit. After a sweet-bordering-on-saccharine montage entitled, "You Make Me Smile," Philbin's evaluation was, "A little long, but okay." And when it came time for his final words, he joked to his producer, "Let's get this over with!" »

A struggling Indian government worker with a master's degree in psychology — which doesn't match his thin wallet — hit the jackpot when he won over $1 million on a game show. His real-life Slumdog Millionaire experience happened when the 27-year old Sushil Kumar answered a crucial question correctly on a local edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?. Kumar is from Bihar — one of the poorest states in India, struggling while other regions boom from recent economic growth. Luxuries like a television set are something Kumar's family can't afford. In fact, his family had to watch Kumar on a neighbor's TV during his big moment in the spotlight. The lucky winner wants to buy a new home, pay off his family's debt, and set up a small...

Government worker whose family is too poor to afford a television celebrates with film stars
A poor government clerk from a remote and poverty-stricken region of northern India was partying with film stars on Thursday night after becoming the first person to win 50 million rupees, worth over $1m or £634,000, on an Indian gameshow.
In an astonishing real life version of the plot of the 2008 Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire, whose impoverished hero from a tough neighbourhood of the Indian commercial capital Mumbai wins the biggest prize on a TV quiz show, 27-year-old Sushil Kumar answered a final question correctly to take the jackpot of the massively popular local edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
"We can't believe it. The whole village have come to our house. We are worried that my dad will die of happiness," Sunil Kumar Patel, the winner's brother, told the Guardian. "We can't speak to Sushil. »

A poor government clerk has become the first person to win $1m on an Indian gameshow.
Sushil Kumar's win on the Indian version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Kaun Banega Crorepati, has transformed him into a role model for millions who aspire to escape poverty and find a role in India's growing economy.
Kumar's win echoes the plot of the 2008 Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire, whose impoverished protagonist won the grand prize on the show.
Kumar and his wife of five months wept when the Indian film star Amitabh Bachchan, the show's host, handed them a check for 50m rupees (£633,000) after the contestant answered all questions correctly.
"You have created history. Your grit and determination has made you come so far in this show," Bachchan said.
Before Kumar entered the quizshow, »
"Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" host (and former co-host of "The View" and "Today") Meredith Vieira is a brave woman. She manages to stay calm when the dum-dum-dum music plays on the game show. She braved the cat fights on "The View" and the Halloween episodes of "Today." So what is she doing to top all of that? She's stalking the supernatural on "Ghost Hunters."
Vieira did an interview with Syfy about the experience, saying she's believed in ghosts since childhood. She also admitted to some fear about what might happen. The Ghost Hunters (who were also guests on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire") are often scratched, pushed and attacked by otherworldly beings. Viera says she's a really fast runner.
Check out Vieira's interview below and watch her busting ghosts on the Syfy channel at 9/8c.
Tune in alert for Meredith Vieira (Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?) conducting a brief interview about her time as a guest during tonight.s all-new episode of Ghost Hunters on Syfy at 9/8c! The Ghost Hunters will have a special guest helping them out this week when Meredith Vieira joins Taps to investigate some potentially Apparition-American-inhabited property. The normally confident newswoman and host does get just a wee bit nervy in the clip provided below.
First, the press release:
Premieres Wednesday, October 26 @ 9pm
On this episode of Ghost Hunters, Taps heads to Snug Harbor, in Staten Island, New York. The team is thrilled to be joined by special guest Meredith Vieira (Emmy Award-winning host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire), who will help them investigate this large property that includes historic landmark buildings. The sprawling complex is allegedly haunted by the spirit of a murdered laundry worker, whose apparition has been seen throughout the property. Other claims include a bell ringing, doors slamming shut, a female voice heard in various buildings and moving shadows have been seen. »

This week in an all-new Ghost Hunters, Jason and Grant are investigating with guest star Meredith Vieira (Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?) and they decide they should go down a flight of stairs to get an area where a child was kept. While Jason and Grant’s main concern is connecting with any potential ghosts, Meredith is concerned with the fact that with them being in the basement, someone could lock them in from the upper level. While she is concerned with making sure they have a way out, she also expresses a desire to see the matron that evidently chained her child in the basement. Be sure to watch the clip and tune in at 9/8c on Wednesday to see if Jason and Grant’s mission alongside Meredith provides an encounter.
In Fact or Faked, the team is putting together another project right outside of Area 51 and are discussing sling-loads, »
