What is there to say? I watched David Copperfield, when I was a child (still, I watched it years after it was released). This version is truly unforgettable! The characters were portrayed masterfully. My favourite characters are auntie Betsey, Dora, and Tommy Traddles. Unfortunately, later versions of the book have ignored Tommy Traddles, but in this version, he is so alive! I absolutely adore reading and David Copperfield is one of my favourite books!
I can be very critical, nonetheless, one can't expect a movie/miniseries to be as 'perfect' as the book is, that is expecting too much. I, however, believe this version give us a very accurate account of Dickens's book. I have been wanting to watch the mini series again for sooooo long. I managed to find some parts of it online but now I am considering buying it...apparently the DVD is available now (check Amazon).
If you haven't watched this version of David Copperfield but love the book, then take a chance and buy the DVD version, I believe you will not regret it!
PS: IMDb has corrected some of what they call 'spelling mistakes' i.e they suggest to write 'favorite' instead of 'favourite', the latter is the word as it is spelt in British/Australian English (my English), so I will not correct the word for those are not spelling mistakes...wasn't USA a British Colony anyway? English originated in England and here in Australia we kept it that way. It is okey if some English words are spelt/spelled (see this one!) differently in different countries, but to consider one way of spelling right and other 'wrong'- especially if the one considered 'wrong' is the one of the country where the language originates- is ridiculous! C'mon! ;) I think IMDb should fix this.
