The series finale was aired on the same day a disastrous fire hit the Globo TV building in Rio de Janeiro on June 4th, 1976.
Elza Gomes (Bá) had to leave the series after a heart surgery and was briefly replaced by Míriam Pires as her sister Nora. Gomes recovered sooner than expected and returned to filming, much for the cast's surprise. The actors genuinely cried while filming the scene of Bá's return.
The male cast and crew formed a football team.
Mário Lago has the same role (although with different names) in both this series and the 1998 remake. He portrays Eunice's lawyer in both versions.
Creator Janete Clair broke traditional telenovela character paradigms in this series. Lucinha (Betty Faria) had a tougher, more strong-willed personality while Carlão's character comes close to that of an antihero.
