Storyline

Reverend Daniel Cooper has come to Hope Island to reopen the Community Church, hoping the assignment will help him through the grief of a terrible loss. Distrusted by the local inhabitants and with the church in a terrible state of disrepair and neglect, Daniel feels alone and rejected. He is befriended by a lonely boy named Dylan who will help him do repairs to the church. Daniel makes him an acolyte, much to the disapproval of Dylan's mom, Alex Stone, a single mother who runs the local inn 'The Widow's Walk'. Alex is the town's cynic who has long ago turned her back on the church. In time Daniel earns the trust and respect of Alex and many of Hope Island's colorful and eccentric characters. In turn the beauty and tranquility of Hope Island and the warmth of it's community will help Daniel heal, renewing and strengthening his faith. He finds love again as he comes to care deeply for Alex Stone. Written by Emmanuel Valerio {evalerio@shaw.ca}

Ruby Vasquez: What do you mean you've got nothing else to do?
Nub Flanders: Well, I'm in sort of a leave of absence.
Ruby Vasquez: Oh, is that because Brewster's Estate is under water?
Nub Flanders: Yeah. It's just temporary.
Ruby Vasquez: Yeah. That's what they said about my tattoo.

It was cancelled because it wasn't sexy enough!!!
15 June 2008 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

I think the show was cancelled because the ratings might have been very low. It is unfortunately a fact that a show MUST include severe sexually explicit images, or language, or anything provoking sex, to have high ratings. We can see that shows like Murray have been going on for years and years and have not been cancelled. Unfortunately, the majority of the TV's audience (which spend a lot of time watching TV weekly) include people with less demanding jobs. Depending on the job level, you can have a general idea of what amuses that certain population more. The higher the level of one's job's difficulty, less time they have, and their taste of movies are different. Clean, nice, calm, family oriented series, doesn't get enough watchers to earn its costs!!! Unless it involves some kind of violence or cruelty, or any fight scene, no matter for the good or evil cause. Like The Last Sammurai, which was a great movie, but did not sell enough. The earnings were mostly due to fight scenes, and not the beauty of the movie as a whole.
