They thought Lord of the Dance was the show of the nineties.... but are they proved wrong?
hayleyrae-moorcroft23 August 2005
Being a huge fan of Lord of the dance i didn't think Michael Flatley could pull off another show like it, but this contains the spirit and originality of LOTD and much much more. We see more from the dancers such as Bernadette Flynn and Gillian Norris. and trust me they only just touched on the talents of the two girls in LOTD. Now 2 years later at still just 18 you get a view of how bright the future of Irish dancing is going to be. The story is great, the dancing is great, the music is great what more could you fit into this breathtaking show?? well i supposed there is Michael Flatley and yes fellow ladies. he is topless again. :D an absolute must see.

Great!! The BEST EVER!!
SaoirseHz9 April 2006
This is the best Irish Dancing show ever!! The original DVD (LOTD) was great but this one is just an improved and greater version of it! The dancing is just breathtaking! Whether it was the dancers, the dancing, the stage, the costumes, the theme (LOTD theme), it all made FOF the best dancing show ever. Another version of FOF was made (the victory tour) yet it is not 1/10 as good as this one! I believe Michael Flatley made this show to stay forever!! I especially enjoyed the fact that the original leads (Gillian, Bernadette and Daire) Danced in this show, because they are simply the best! I am Going to briefly talk about some of my favorite Dances:

1) Gypsy: Gillian truly is an amazing gypsy. She is sexy, evil and tempting yet at the same time she is very graceful and she plays the lead role with class. It is no wonder that she's the best temptress, and no other dancer had ever been able to match her beauty, grace and style. In Gypsy, she's a bird flying and you can only think that she's reaching to heaven...

2) Breakout: Bernadette looks like a doll here! This girl is so talented and she just makes you want to dance. The way she and Gillian dance here is very beautiful.

3)Stolen Kiss: Bernadette, Michael and Gillian are a great trio, and you have to love Stolen kiss when it is performed with Bernie's innocence, and Gillian's fire.

4) Saoirse (the dance of love): Simply Breathtaking!! Bernadette looks like a princess and makes you dream with her. What a great feeling!

5) Planet Ireland: Probably the best performance of Planet Ireland ever! The stage and the colors of the Irish flag are just amazing!

Finally, i want to say that I LOVE all the dances, but i cannot comment on all of them:)

Excellent Update of Lord of the Dance
lbevil14 January 2000
I thoroughly enjoyed the film Lord of the Dance when it was released. I later saw the live show in Oklahoma City, OK and enjoyed that presentation as well. I then had the opportunity to get the VHS tape of Michael Flatley: Feet of Flames. I noted that he used the same performers as in the original Lord of the Dance. It was also quite apparent that the overall performance of those same performers was substantially better than the original. The added numbers were a definite bonus to the film. I highly recommend Feet of Flames to anyone that likes musical shows.

See this!

Spectacular dance and song extravaganza! Mr. Flatley and his cast provide a stunning show complete with Druid High Priests and the inevitable battle between light and dark. This flows by so quickly and is assembled so perfectly. The balance between high-kicking dance numbers and beautiful songs is striking. The costuming and lighting is like nothing I've ever seen in a "dance" type setting.

Best Ever, No Doubt About It!
Gil-avigil-computing9 October 2018
I was not one for these dance shows...to begin with...but when we began raising our grandson at just less than a year old, he was already hooked on "Lord of the Dance" which was quickly wearing out since he wanted to watch it every day. This was in 2003. So I hunted around and found "Feet of Flames" by the same performer. From then on all I heard was "Feet of Flames," so much so that he thought every Universal Studio movie was "Feet of Flames!" By the time he was four, he knew all Michaels dance steps and would dance with him in front of the TV. The show grew on me, and I never tired of watching it with him. Eventually the VCR died, and we lost track of the show. The grandkid is now going on 16, and he asked me to buy the DVD so he could watch it with his friends. I would say that Feet of Flames, from our experience has an enduring quality.

AWESOME

Michael Flatley was awesome in Feet of Flames. Not only was his dancing spectacular, but his flute playing was exquisite.

I liked this updated version of Lord of the Dance much better than the original.

Although bigger and, in a way, better, it didn't surpass the original.
DeltaBlast25 June 2003
Although this show had twice the performers and twice the stage as Lord of the Dance, it didn't surpass it. Why? Not only because it's more of the same, but especially because it has no grip on you. It's an outside performance and the natural lighting hinders the artificial lighting effects. Also a major problem that comes with the fact that it's outside: the sound is bad. The music is too loud for the taps and the audience. The overall performance is great, you can see they have done it a lot and improved loads of stuff, but you can also see they don't have that.. radiating glow about them anymore, as they had on the opening night of Lord of the Dance. The conclusion is: as a single show, it's great, but as a turbo-version of Lord of the Dance and especially as DVD, it's not that super... go see LOTD instead. (But if you can see an indoor version of this show live, go see it. Now. Don't hestitate, go. Go!)

overal rating: 9/10 (it still kicks every other thing's ass)

Deja vu all over again
Shaduan8 August 2002
I watched Feet of Flames not long after watching Lord of the Dance, and I'd say at least half of Feet was a revised version of Lord - it had the Spirit, it had the Gypsy, it had the bad guys challenging Flatley for the title of Lord of the Dance. Granted, there were songs and such not found in Lord, which kept it from being a complete disappointment, but I expected more originality.

iainsmith-180611 February 2021
A bigger show staged at Hyde Park , London and I was lucky to be in front row again and it was just an awesome show with Michael proving that he is the best . The solo at the end no one expected but it was just breathtaking. A must for Michael Flatley fans .

Alright!
Jaye_5712 June 2005
Don't compare it to Riverdance, because I did the first time and it made me dislike it. But anyway, the dancing is good. Didn't think much of the costumes. I think it would've been better if Michael Flatley hadn't been snogging and manhandling every female performer who came on stage and punching the air every five minutes. I loved him in Riverdance, but he's very full of himself in this one! You might as well watch it, because it has some good dances in it and a very nice music score! Oh, and if you don't like it when they edit things from the way they're meant to be, (like special effects) I warn you that they put quite a few things in slow motion. It ruins the dancing, I think. But each to their own.

Disapointment
pendragonsden8 November 2002
This film was a disapointment. All it was in essence was Lord of the Dance with more dancers and different songs that were sung. The storyline and dance steps were the same. Most of the cosutmes were different but on a whole it was the same. I am supprised that Michael Flatley couldn't come up with new stuff.

Feet of Flames....?????
szokia6 December 2008
Of course, "Flatley" is already not exactly the ideal name for a dancer, but I think Michael is really pushing the irony envelope with this new title: "Feet of Flames"

One really can't resist recommending Desenex Foot Spray to the retiring (and clearly, ailing) Flatley.

I might add that, much like that cheering London crowd (per review below), I too am enthusiastic about this being his last live performance.

"Hinting that it may be his last live performance, Flatley is cheered on by an enthusiastic London crowd." ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide
