Amazing
folkpoet8029 November 2003
This is a great movie and clearly above the heads of today's audience.

Very moving and emotional drama set with beautiful backgrounds. Akshay Kahnna once again sets himself aside than the regular queue of Actors and Jyothika's eyes say it all at the end of the movie.

A must see!

A Touching Romantic Movie
dattap29 December 2011
Friends, this movie was released when I was in grade 2 and did not understand the meaning of romantic movie. Honestly, as a good movie viewer my comments about the movie is really above the thumb. Really enjoyed watching it. And,I think in India all lovers have to face the difficulties at first in reality as it showed in this movie. All music tune and songs are good. The innocent acting of Jyotika was too good though Akshay Khanna was looking a goody and smart boy as he always in all of his movies. One thing I dislike of this movie is its ending part. The movie started so smoothly and creatively and ended harshly. Otherwise, thanks to Priyodarshan for directing this romance movie greatly. In my own opinion , it is better than the Malayalam movie Aniyathipravu from where the movie was actually adopter.Overall,it's a romantic family movie. Hope all of you will have the same feeling after watching it.

Best Romantic Family Drama
topmoviesblogs13 January 2021
Priyadarshan version of Fazil movie is amazing portray of family and romantic drama.

Performance of lead actors are very good and the climax has been handled smartly. Character actors like Aruna Irani, Paresh Rawal, Anupam Kher & Maushmi Chatterjee excels in climax.

Overall very good movie.

A beautiful love story....close to my heart
rm_shinde18 April 2003
hey guys, this is a really beautiful love story, i liked it. jyotika, looks great as the next door girl. she is quite, charming, innocent, obedient, caring, soft spoken,....exactly the way each guy wants his girl to be. first half is very well made, and the pace is really very good. second half though seems a little slow, is important to convey what the director has to get thru to the audience. my friends said, the movie has portrayed very conservative thoughts. but let me tell u, these things happen in india and whatever is shown in the movie is just a genuine reaction of a normal person in those situations. u will see pallavi's brothers and all other family members, behaving so differently at the end of the movie. i don't object it, but actually i liked that, its the situations which u encounter that make u behave in a certain manner and take certain decisions. and sometimes the situation is an unexpected one, so u react very differently, without using any rationale. but the same perception changes when the situations are different. this is exactly what you see in the movie....very well put up to entertain you.... i loved the songs too, very good tunes and themes. hope u all would like it too..... so....fall in love & hope for the best njoy

A Family Affair
Nisha8219 October 1999
This movie is an entertainer--well, the first half is. The second half drags a bit. The movie is basically about Inder (Akshaye Khanna) who persuaded his parents to allow him to go for his masters in college instead of settling down and getting married. Lo and behold, in college, he falls desperately in love with Pallavi (newcomer Pallavi). The question is, does she love him? It turns out that this is rather irrelevant to Inder--he vows to win her over, but first he must win over her family... Music by A.R. Rahman is excellent, but two purely musical numbers included in the tape/CD seem superfluous. Hopefully this movie will start off Jyothika's career well, though it has the potential of flopping terribly at the box office. This movie truly depends on the individual. Happy Viewing!!

ARRahman music and Priyadarshan's narrative
tumuluri-sunil20 July 2005
All the songs are good. This is remake of kadhalikku mariyadhai starring vijay and shalini, directed by fazil the climax makes for great melodrama Akshaye and Jyothika elope from house as their elders donot agree for marriage but suddenly they change their heart and because of due respect to elders they want to sacrifice their love. Now parents realise their folly and unite them in a love bond great comedy and great songs and great sequences. the fisherman sequences are a bore but there should be a place where change of heart should take place ,thats why this setting but sadly enough, jyothika didnot get break in Hindi so she became a great heroine thereby getting chandramukhi and proving her worth in tamil no wonder one day she will become Mrs.Surya Sivakumar

A must watch to get fully entertained
writeonwattpad17 May 2021
It has everything to offer which an ideal movie should have for wholesome entertainment and lifetime memory of gratification of watching a good movie like this.

1 Friends 2 Love at first sight 3 Simplicity of love relationship 4 Protecting and loving families 5 Brothers who go to any level to protect their sister 6 Akshay Khanna might not be the star but not less than that also.

7 Jyotika with unmatched beauty and simplicity 8 Amrish puri as always great

Ending too good, watch it you will never regret.
