Good Start for a great director and cast

I am a long time fan of B movies and independent films. I grew up watching the worst of them on saturday afternoons on uhf tv stations. Having said that, let me tell you that if you are looking for slick, studio quality, and big name actors, you wont find them here. Black Heart is a good try, a testing of the waters for Jim Exton and crew. The movie itself is about a serial killer (arent they all??) and the 2 guys who are tracking him. Jim Extons second attempt at movie making (the first being a hardly ever seen karate film "Sandman") is full of action and semi decent acting and one of the greatest shower scenes known to man. It has all the makings of a great picture, but being made by inexperienced people holding down fulltime jobs while shooting, it lacks in quality. Jim Exton does surprisingly well given the material (actors, actresses, etc) he has to work with. Best of all, Jim went the extra mile by shooting in film and not video. The result was a great learning experience and lesson in filmmaking for him. I would imagine that Mr. Exton has more in that creative little mind in store for us for a long time. If you can find him or a copy of this film I highly recommend the effort, if for no other reason than to see the birth and progress of a promising director.
