Even though I am a Charles Grodin fan, I was not that crazy about the first two Beethovens, Grodin and Bonnie Hunt made these tolerable. First off the original family is gonzo in the third one, one because the kids are old about 8 years later, Grodin and Hunt have better things to do now-a-days, so why make another movie when the first two were good enough? Why have Judge Reinhold one of the worst actors for this role? I question the folks who decided to even make a third movie almost 8 years later, and the fourth one isn't even worth the time, it has gotten ridiculous! but I wouldn't be suprised if we see a Beethoven 5th with someone like Pauly Shore, I really can't get any more out of hand, these people have ruined the series with these straight to video sequels.
