A poor attempt at a strategy game
OlfinBedwere5 January 2001
With the recent rush of strategy games based on Star Trek it was inevitable that Interplay would make an attempt. Unfortunately it was at best misguided and at worst a complete disaster. The control system is preposterous, movement can only be done with the keyboard and arrow buttons, not the mouse, the controls often don't do what you want to and there are horrible graphical glitches even on my very reliable ATI R128 card. This might have been a decent game, but the above glitches and other games like Armada and Star Fleet Command 2 and even the now budget range Birth Of The Federation just pale it into insignifiacance. If you're a Star Trek fan and you see this game at a low price, by all means buy it. But for normal Real Time Strategy fans and people who have played on Armada and SFC this is a huge let down.

Travesty

It's a real shame that Gene Roddenberry is listed as the writer of this very poorly scripted Star Trek game. There's essentially no meaningful plot, the voice acting isn't great and the gameplay is pretty awful.

I do enjoy most Star Trek video games but this is by far one of the worst I've played so far. The graphics look dated even for its time. You feel like you're looking at a bunch of Lego blocks connected together (badly might I add) rather than proper spaceships that resemble anything remotely from the Star Trek universe.

I wouldn't even suggest watching the gameplay videos online. Pass this one.
