awfully flawed movie due to technical limitations.
The literal translation of the title of this movie is: Emperor Qian Long's Tours of Southern China.
This movie is based on the actual event that really happened, unlike most of Chinese early movies at its time (which mostly concentrated on martial arts flicks).
However, there were serious flaws of this movie due to technicality: the movie was black and white, so the color scenery of South China could not be realistically reflected. The movie is also silent, so the ancient musical performance could not be shown at all. This technical limitations ruined the originally good idea.
