Antique French comedy.

Does any one really care about the spoiler?

This one is a not as clever as it wants to be comedy, whose main novelty is the animated sequences of women down the ages all wanting something different from what they got as New Year presents.

The comic lead knows that wife Carton, Mother Guitty and the ugly concierge will re-gift the chocolates that he gets them and he'll end up with them to take to the manicure salon girls.

Quite accomplished for the day and another chance to experience unfamiliar film making.

Ir survives as a passable archival dupe.
