Blade Helmer Reinvents The Crow

14 December 2008 | shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news »

We're well beyond The Crow 's ten year anniversary. And you know what that means? A remake, er, or reinvention or re-imagining - or whatever those crazy cats wearing the producer caps are calling it these days. Variety reports Relativity Media and producer Ed Pressman have connected with a director to embark on a reinvention of James O'Barr's brooding comic book property. Blade 's Stephen Norrington is the man stepping up to the plate. It will be his first film since The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in 2003. If you take a gander at his credits since then you'll find he's been dabbling in sculpture having worked on Exorcist: The Beginning and Feast . Paul Schrader Is Off To Bollywood

Paul Schrader is swapping Hollywood for Bollywood. The screenwriting genius behind Taxi Driver and Raging Bull has not only agreed to make his next film, the action thriller Extreme City, in Mumbai, but he’s soaking up the stylistic influences of the Indian film industry as well. The film, which tells the story of an American who travels to India to resolve a kidnapping incident for his father-in-law, only to get caught up in gangster business, will incorporate some Bollywood traditions, such as musical numbers, while dialogue will be spoken in English and Hindi. It’s a bold move for Schrader, but in a way, it’s not entirely a surprise. Even though his most recent directorial effort, Adam Resurrected, has been attracting good reviews, particularly for the lead turn from star Jeff Goldblum, Schrader has always faced a struggle to get his movies made in America. So, Warner Bros. is moving forward with a prequel to I Am Legend. Rather than writing a good film they plan on bringing back Will Smith to reprise his role as scientist Robert Neville and chronicle the final days of humanity in New York before a man-made virus caused a plague that left Smith's character the lone survivor among a mutated mob in the city. I Am Legend helmer Francis Lawrence is returning to direct with unproven scripter D.B. Weiss penning the screenplay. I am sure some of you out there are excited about this. I don't know why, but I am sure you are out there. However, have you considered the history of prequels? Let's take a look and see what WB is getting themselves into. Red Dragon: Ratner's excuse for a Hannibal Lecter film gone awry Hannibal Rising: It's like Benjamin Button was a serial killer, »
