Billy Kent, a product of the sage brush country, is suspected, through a chain of circumstantial evidence, by his sweetheart, of having attacked and robbed her father. Although Billy is possessed of a peaceful disposition, when he is wrongfully accused, the fighting instinct, inherited from past generations, is awakened within him and he starts out to find the man whose crime has been laid at his door. He strikes the trail and, by some dexterous horsemanship, follows it through the hills. After a daring and perilous chase Billy is wounded, but he makes it so hot for the outlaw that he is forced to abandon his horse and engage in a hand-to-hand battle with Billy on the edge of a cliff. During the desperate struggle that follows, the outlaw is plunged to the bottom of the gorge. By a most unique method Billy manages to bring his wounded captive back to the ranch. There everything is fully explained and complete happiness is once more the reward for Billy's rough experiences.
