This is a fun movie that kids and adults should enjoy.

It's about an English archaeologist who discovers the remains of an ancient Chinese ship sunk in the middle of the Kalihari Desert (which is supposed to have been an inland sea explored by the Chinese long, long ago.)

Inside the ship are priceless imperial treasures from the first dynasty.

A Chinese member of the professor's crew betrays the professor to a female Chinese criminal living in Johannesburg (South Africa.)

This criminal -- Madame Wong -- is a sort of Cruella De Vil (Disney's "101 Dalmations") in the Asian style.

Her two clumsy lieutenants (like Horace and Jasper in the Disney movie) are as comically incompetent as they are wicked.

The criminal threesome kidnap the professor and his soon-to-be fiancée, demanding that the professor take them to the treasure.

But they do not know that the professor's 12-year-old son is flying into Johannesburg from London to visit him.

When the professor fails to meet the son at the airport, the boy falls in with a crew of street urchins, who help him find his father.

I won't say any more -- that would spoil the movie.

But I did enjoy it.

Yes, it was a bit cheesy, but so what? I found the acting, writing, cinematography, etc., to be more than adequate.

There are some violent moments, but certainly nothing bad in comparison to most of what is out there nowadays.

And the kids should enjoy the panoramas of Africa and the actors' interactions with various animals.

Since I wouldn't mind seeing it again, I rate it a 10.
