DC's 'Hawkgirl' TV Series Is in Development at The CW

22 June 2015 12:08 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Next year, The CW will debut DC's Legends of Tomorrow, a spinoff series that features Arrow and The Flash. Along with Arrow's Caity Lotz (White Canary), Brandon Routh (Atom) and Victor Garber (Dr. Martin Stein), and The Flash's Wentworth Miller (Captain Cold) and Dominic Purcell (Heat Wave), the spinoff will feature new characters such as Arthur Darvill (Rip Hunter) and Ciara Renee (Hawkgirl). While we have to wait for next January to see these heroes and villains come together, Spoiler TV reports that The CW is developing a Hawkgirl spinoff series.

The show is reportedly in very early stages of development, but it would likely get a straight-to-series order, with Ciara Renee set to star as Hawkgirl. If this show does go forward, it seems that her stint on DC's Legends of Tomorrow could be a short one, but, given how often Arrow and The Flash cross over, »

Binge-watching television shows has its advantages and disadvantages. A huge plus for sitting on the couch for hours on end watching multiple episodes like Orange Is the New Black or House of Cards is that you do not have to wait until the following week in case the episode you are watching ends in a cliffhanger. A huge downside of this practice is that you have to wait even longer before being able to watch fresh episodes of your favorite Netflix series’. Fans of the prison-based comedy starring Taylor Schilling, Kate Mulgrew, and Laura Prepon were surprised last Thursday when Netflix unveiled the third season six hours early. It has been almost a week since the series began streaming and the most die-hard of fans have already finished watching the 13-episode season. Here are 8 fun facts about the comedy. 1. Viola Davis is no stranger to television, having appeared in episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Traveler and United States of Tara. It wasn't until she was cast as the lead in ABC's How to Get Away With Murder, however, that the 49-year-old actress began to receive the acclaim she deserved. Davis had worked with some of the biggest directors and actors in Hollywood on stage and screen, but many times, she felt marginalized as a nonwhite actor in film. When Shonda Rhimes and Peter Norwalk came calling, the star jumped at the chance to play a mysterious law professor named Annalise Keating. "There was absolutely no precedent for it. I had never seen a 49-year-old, dark-skinned woman who is »

DVR Gridlock 2015-16: Wednesday Nights

27 May 2015 12:30 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

[As in years past, this week, I'm going to be glancing, night-by-night, at how the primetime schedules have changed after the network announcements at upfronts. I'll be looking at how the various changes will impact the ratings races on each night, as well as my own DVRing habits. Readers can chime in on how their own DVRs will be impacted. And yes, this brief series assumes that anybody still watches TV on their TVs. I'm old-fashioned. I'm also probably gonna ignore that I have a fancy new six-tuner DVR that means that I really don't have to make choices anymore. This will assume that I make choices for my own sanity.] Wednesday Nights 8:00 p.m. ABC: "The Middle," "The Goldbergs" CBS: "Survivor" The CW: "Arrow" Fox: "Rosewood" NBC: "The Mysteries of Laura" 9:00 p.m.  ABC: "Modern Family," "Black-ish" CBS: "Criminal Minds" The CW: "Supernatural" Fox: "Empire" NBC: "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" 10 p.m.  ABC: "Nashville" CBS: "Code Black" NBC: "Chicago Pd" What's Changed: Wednesday is easily the most stable night of the week thus far. Eleven of the 15 shows airing on Wednesday night are the same shows that were airing in the exact same times last fall, while "Empire" and "Supernatural" both came over to their current time periods in the spring. I know you're capable of doing rudimentary math, but that means that 13 of 15 shows airing on Wednesday in the fall were airing here in the spring, with the only two exceptions being Fox's "Rosewood" and CBS' latest 10 p.m. drama "Code Black." No other night can come close to this stability. »

TV Ratings: 'Survivor' finale cruises on Wednesday, 'Modern Family' hits low

21 May 2015 9:20 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Fast National ratings for Wednesday, May 21, 2015. CBS cruised to victory on the last night of the 2014-15 season with three hours of "Survivor: Worlds Apart" finale coverage, which swept primetime in most measures.  NBC finished second overall thanks to strong performances from finales for "The Mysteries of Laura," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and "Chicago Pd," while a series low finale for "Modern Family" still put ABC in second in the key demo. There were a couple summer premieres on Wednesday, with ABC's "500 Questions" having an Ok series launch and Fox's "MasterChef" premiere coming in a bit soft, though both shows did the same 18-49 rating. Let's get to the numbers... Among adults 18-49, CBS averaged a 2.1 rating for Wednesday night, tops in the key demographic. ABC was second with a 1.4 key demo rating, followed closely by NBC's 1.3 key demo rating and the 1.2 key demo rating for Fox. The CW »

TV Ratings: 'Vampire Diaries' among finale risers as ABC, CBS split Thursday

15 May 2015 8:59 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Fast National ratings for Thursday, May 14, 2015. A trio of "Big Bang Theory" repeats kept CBS atop the Thursday ratings race overall, while finales for "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal" didn't get much of a boost for ABC, but still led the network to victory in the key demo.  The "Scandal" finale rose 0.1 in the key demo, the same bump for finales of "The Blacklist," "Elementary" and "Reign." Trying to carve out a niche against those ABC and NBC finales, Fox's "Wayward Pines" had a premiere that came in below the fall numbers for the launch of "Gracepoint," though a truer test on this one will come with less competition next week. "Wayward Pines" did equal its "Bones" lead-in in the key demo, something "Gracepoint" couldn't say with a much stronger "Bones" lead-in performance. Let's get to the numbers... Among adults 18-49, ABC averaged a 1.8 rating for Thursday night, tops in the key demographic. »
