Glenne Headly Remembered: ‘She Was a Total Perfectionist’

9 June 2017 2:23 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Glenne Headly was a very serious actress with a gift for comedy. That’s how Anna D. Shapiro, artistic director of Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre Co., remembered the theater’s longtime ensemble member, who died Friday at the age of 62.

“Glenne was a very, very serious actor and one of the hardest-working people I’ve ever worked with,” Shapiro told Variety. “She was a total perfectionist and she was obsessed with the science of acting comedy…She would focus on what it was that made something true, and by that uncovering why it was funny.”

Headly joined the famed Chicago theater company in 1979, five years after it was founded by Gary Sinise, Terry Kinney and Jeff Perry. Even after Headly moved to the West Coast to work in movies and TV, she maintained a regular presence in Steppenwolf productions through 2005. Jesy Nelson and Perrie Edwards Flaunt Their Killer Figures on the Beach in Miami

14 April 2017 7:49 AM, PDT | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

Who needs boys when you have your best girlfriend to cheer you up? After reportedly calling it quits with fellow English star Chris Clark, Little Mix's Jesy Nelson hit the beach in Miami on Thursday with her bandmate Perrie Edwards. The two enjoyed some fun in the sun as they walked around sipping on drinks and holding hands. Aside from showing off their sweet friendship, they also flaunted their incredible figures as they strolled through the sand wearing matching Calvin Klein tops and cutoff shorts. No telling whether another jam-worthy breakup track like "Shout Out to My Ex" will come out of Jesy's new relationship status, but we are certainly loving the girls' incredible bond. Little Mix Channels Coyote Ugly in Their "No More Sad Songs" Music Video

30 March 2017 8:48 AM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

Little Mix is in the house, y'all. After releasing their latest album, Glory Days, in 2016, the British girl group's music has been dominating the charts. They blessed the world with its latest breakup anthem, "Shout Out to My Ex," before following it up with the equally catchy "Touch." And now their latest music video for "No More Sad Songs" will leave you feeling anything but sad. In the video, members Perrie, Jade, Leigh-Anne, and Jesy walk into a country bar in Coyote Ugly-esque outfits. In addition to playing pool and dancing on the bar, they also ride a mechanical bull. We don't know whether we want to book a trip to Nashville or buy our first pair of assless chaps. »

The myth of screenwriting credits

Why the writers credited on a movie are rarely the only ones who put the screenplay together....

The Wizard Of Oz, since its initial release in 1939, has richly deserved its long-cemented status as an all-time classic. A regular resident in the IMDb top 250 films of all time, and a part of many people’s DVD collection, it’s a film that I’d wager more and more people fall in love with each year. Long may that continue.

Lots of brilliant people were involved in bringing The Wizard Of Oz to the big screen. Some terrific writers, too, who came up with a quotable and cherished script. The film’s screenplay is credited to Noel Langley, »

There’s Only One Melanie Lynskey, But These 5 Stories Will Make You Wish There Were More

12 March 2017 10:22 AM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

“I thought I was going to get fired.”

In a perfect world, such a thought would never cross Melanie Lynskey’s mind, for the talented actress would literally never be in danger of getting canned. She could throw fits next to crafty, punch a grip in the face, or burn down the sets, and we’d still forgive her because… Well, because Melanie Lynskey would never do any of that. She’s Melanie Lynskey.

But the actor you fell in love with during “Beautiful Creatures,” “Togetherness,” or the 2017 Sundance Grand Jury Prize-winning film “I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore” did have the thought cross her mind for the strangest of reasons: Tom McCarthy found out she was a recurring cast member on “Two and a Half Men.”
