three acquaintances sign a ten year lease, we see one day a year, as they develop an alternative family
21 February 2005 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

The whole thing takes place in the apartment but you never feel like it's stagy. The director used the space very creatively and each year has it's own stylistic feel. loved the progression through the years and hairstyles. 1985- 1995. and how the three virtual strangers become real family. There is a pleasant use of stunt casting as some well known actors show up playing on again, off again boyfriends, girlfriends and things in between. It started slowly but as each yearly episode passed the accumulated feelings between characters grew and I cared to know how these people were going to end up. And fortunately they don't end up in a neat little package because the film has a more complex idea in mind.
