Storyline

Short-lived game show which used two formats and implemented the use of celebrities in an attempt to cash in on the trivia game craze. Two three-member teams -- the "Juniors" (whose members were younger than 30 years old) and the "Seniors" (contestants were older than 30 years old); one of them was the returning champions -- competed. Early in the show's run, host Eubanks announced two sets of four possible answers to a trivia question; the captain of the challenging team selected one set, to which Eubanks read the question. In turn, each team member had to eliminate the three incorrect answers, leaving just the right answer. Eliminating all three wrong answers was worth $300 to the team, but finding the right answer ended play on that question (though each wrong answer eliminated was worth $50). Many of the sound effects used in this show ended up being used in future _Mark Goodson Television Productions_ shows. The sound effect for a answer right in the first round was later used on Classic Concentration, the answer choice blip would later be used on Family Feud as the Fast Money answer reveal blip, and the wrong answer sound was later used on The Price Is Right as the bad choice sound effect on the pricing game, "Pathfinder".

One of the most underrated game shows!

Although I wasn't born during its original run and I never saw it during GSN's pre-1997 dark period, I think "Trivia Trap" was an underrated show that should be revived. Why? Because now that I have a few episodes from when GSN reran episodes of "Trivia Trap" from Jan. 2003-Mar. 2003, this show is very awesome and very mid-80s! The theme music is now one of my personal favorites and even though it was a regrettable move on the producers part in altering the format midway through its run, it still was a very interesting show! BTW, did I mention that the sound effects it used were used on previous and future Goodson show like the sound effect for when a team got an answer right in the first round (it was later used on "Classic Concentration") or when a team hits the trivia trap (it was the bad choice sound effect on "TPiR's" pricing game, Pathfinder). ABC unfortunately cancelled this and replaced it with the awful "All-Star Blitz"!
