Not a Success But the Revival Would Be Several Years Later
7 June 2012 | by (St. Louis Park, MN) – See all my reviews

In 1969, Mark Goodson and Bill Todman had four game shows airing in syndication. The first three were remakes of What's My Line, To Tell the Truth and Beat The Clock. They had long and successful runs. The fourth was a new first run show titled He Said, She Said. It was the first game show hosted by former major league catcher turned sportscaster Joe Garagiola and featured four celebrity couples finding out how they would respond to certain situations. For example: "We said, "Pajamas" and He said, "Haven't Any." The couple who matched correctly earned 25 points. An incorrect response deducted 10 points. The couple scoring the most points won their audience couple a week's stay at a Holiday Inn.

Unfortunately, He Said, She Said had a much shorter run than the other three shows, lasting only one season. It wasn't a bad show but good things would happen after production ended. Garagiola would move on to host The Memory Game and replace Jack Kelly on Sale of the Century. The concept for He Said, She Said would be revived in 1974 under the title Tattletales, with Bert Convy hosting. It became a hit, thanks to its lead in, the highly successful Match Game revival.

One thing I remember about the show was the original theme music was used for the 1967 game show Everybody's Talking. It was great to see celebrity couples such as Stiller and Meara on the show.
