Mediocre "Roughie" With A Cool Twist Ending...

Honestly - if you've seen a good bit of roughies, there's really nothing new in this one. A few sleazy but not very "rough" rape scenes, ya know - the same ol' stuff. The one thing I'll give this one is the "twist" ending which I found amusing.

Basically, we get to see a few vignettes of some former rape victims telling their stories at a clinic for victims of sexual abuse. The first girl tells the tale of getting abducted, rubbed down with grease, raped, and then peed on by two guys. The next part of the story involves two people, a guy and a girl, who are in the clinic together to discuss their respective experiences. The guy (novelly enough) was forced into sex against his will by two "teenage" hoodlums - Vanessa Del Rio and some other slut. The girl's story is a home-invasion story where some joker busts in and...you guessed it...rapes her. At the end of the session - the guy and girl leave together and feel a "bond" from sharing their stories...so of course that leads to them boning...

Now the GOOD part is when...

*****MAJOR SPOILER****** After their little "session", the guy gets up - takes off his disguise, and it turns out to be the guy that raped her at her house! Pretty original for a no-budget sleazy porn film... ****END SPOILER********

Other than the "twist" ending - nothing' too notable about this entry either. The "rape" scenes are weak and unconvincing - homeboy just seems to be havin' a little too much fun as he's forced to do Del Rio in the ass. Sorry guys, I can think of way worse "tortures" than being forced into anal-sex with Vanessa Del Rio (as she looked pre-1980's...). May be worth a look to the TRUE genre enthusiast - but the only thing raising this one above mediocre level is the ending...6.5/10

Lame injection of violence into standard XXX format

NYC pornographer Richard Mailer made too many films -the more I see the lower his batting average falls. RAPE VICTIMS is a very silly attempt to sustain a serious tone (it doesn't).

Picture opens with doggy-style sex -point blank with no set-up. Our heroine Ursula Austin (who went on to an odd career working with everyone from Doris Wishman and Roberta Findlay to Bob Chinn and Radley Metzger), has flashbacks of being raped by an intruder with a nylon stocking over his head.

She goes to a clinic where Ultramax wearing a lousy wig is a psychotherapist, giving a very poor performance. It's almost as if Mailer forgot to tell her that this is not the usual farce she's known for but a dark toned film.

At the therapist's office it's group therapy time, with first girl to go being Cedar Houston, a small-time porn actress. Her tale of woe involves being raped by Roger Caine and a Black accomplice. They grab her in an alley and take her to a nondescript warehouse, familiar from Mailer's ON THE STREET. Delivering lots of cum. this violent sequence relies on considerable poetic license, as Cedar actively participates in the 3-way sex especially blow jobs, not really appearing to stay in character as victim.

Next story of victimization is left to a sensitive guy David Williams, who claims to have been "raped" by two female hitchhikers he picked up. They take him to a warehouse, which turns out to be exactly the same set as used for Cedar's previous rape scene - cheap beyond belief. Obviously Vanessa del Rio fans will enjoy this bit of nonsense, accompanied by her sexual accomplice Alana Blue, but calling Williams a victim is a stretch.

When it comes to Austin's turn, we see the stocking-faced guy rape her in her dorm room from college. It's a violent, bondage-oriented staging, not erotic or pleasant but purposely negative. There's more footage of Williams' 3-way, including him having plenty of anal sex with the girls. Vanessa threatens to cut his cock off - a bit of tease for the sadists in the audience.

Back to Austin's story, there is poor continuity in the footage including a mysterious hand in closeup fingering Austin's vagina during the rape that is badly editing and a confusing detail.

After baring their souls, Austin and Williams bond after leaving hammy Ultramax's office. They make love on a couch, and Williams' money shot on her vagina looks just like that of the rapist of Austin in the flashback. That sets up a brief and sudden trick "surprise" ending, lousy as usual.
