One of the best action games of the last decade.

Featuring an unique gameplay system, and goofy humour, MDK 2, the sequel to 1997's MDK (Murder Death Kill), definitely carries the player through hours of great fun. Starting out as Kurt Hectic, dr Hawkins' janitor, armed with a minigun and a sniper ability, you mindlessly shoot your way throughout the level, only to be replaced in the second level by Max, doc's faithful six-legged canine. Now this is a nice twist...Being able to shoot with 4(four) UZI's at a time!!! O_o...Continuing the game, you eventually get to play as dr Hawkins himself, this parts being the most intelligent ones of the game, also bringing a nice twist to the otherwise basic "kill 'em all" gameplay.("An atomic toaster! By Jove, now we're cooking!!!") From here on, it's all up to you. Saving the world from the mean Shwing Shwang and his hordes of interesting designed (but otherwise stupid) aliens, dodging asteroids while traveling in a torpedo, makin' atomic toast, or simply sniping those goddamn shooting orbs, whatever you do, this game manages to keep your interest up. Definitely, 9 out of 10 stars.

One of the most challenging games ever, but unforgettable!

Truly defining the gaming laws this sequel manages to surpass the original in everyway! In MDK2 you play as Kurt Hectic (mild manor janitor), Dr. Fluke Hawkins (egotistic scientist) and Max (robot dog with a taste for fire power). It is with those 3 characters that MDK2 comes to life with a nice variety of game play. The story starts off minutes from the original and on the Jim Dandy (Hawkins home and orbital spaceship) our heroes are relaxing until aliens attack earth. Kurt's off to the mothership, Swizzle Firma, Max fly's off to a near by spaceship and Dr. Hawkins takes care of the aliens aboard the Jim Dandy. Right off the bat MDK2 is a very, very challenging game. In fact I think it was named the 6th hardest game of all time according to IGN. You wonder through ten huge levels, first as Kurt then Dr. Hawkins and then Max and then repeat. For Kurt it all about the sniping and killing. He has a lot of platform jumping as well. For Hawkins its puzzle solving and creating new inventions such as the infamous Atomic Toaster, which uses different types of bread for ammunition. For Max it just kill, kill, kill! He has four arms and each arm can carry a weapon. Now that's a great idea! What's really amazing in MDK2 is the shear size of the levels. From an in game perspective they are huge both in length and atmosphere. The music is very nicely done with each character having there own style. The graphics still manage to look great. Unfortunately this game maybe to hard for some gamers, because you will die a lot. To add to the frustration is the fact that it saves by check points rather than save anywhere feature. Other than that its easily the one of the best games I've ever played.
