Zide sings Anthem on his own

17 December 2003 | The Hollywood Reporter - Movie News | See recent The Hollywood Reporter - Movie News news »

Zide/Perry Entertainment's Warren Zide is forming a new, fully financed production entity, dubbed Anthem Pictures, and is in negotiations to set the company up with a production deal at Columbia Pictures. The production deal would call for the new banner to produce youth, family and horror films at a budget of as much as $40 million. But the deal is not expected to close until Anthem secures financing from undisclosed investors with whom it is in discussions. The creation of Anthem will spell the end of Zide/Perry Entertainment in its current incarnation as the company will be split into two separate entities -- a yet-to-be-titled management company and a production banner to be run by Craig Perry. Each entity will have a first-look deal with Anthem, which also hopes to eventually offer first-look deals with other producers. Anthem will begin staffing up soon. Zide and Perry previously produced such films as the American Pie and Final Destination franchises for Universal Pictures and New Line Cinema, respectively. Their company previously held first-look deals with MGM and New Line. »
