Portugal. the Man have shared “Champ,” a new single from their upcoming album, Chris Black Changed My Life. Produced by Jeff Bhasker, the track finds the band reimagining Edgar Winter’s “Dying to Live” with their own psychedelic twist. Listen below.

Chris Black Changed My Life is dedicated to Portugal. The Man’s late friend and honorary band member, Chris Black, who died on May 19th, 2019. Previously, the band previewed the album by sharing the lead single, “Dummy.”
This summer, Portugal. the Man will take the album on the road, including a festival set at Bonnaroo and headlining shows at Red Rocks, Radio City, and Hollywood Bowl. Tickets are available here.

Gene Simmons fell ill during a Kiss concert on Wednesday night (April 12th) in Manaus, Brazil, and was forced to perform part of the set sitting down.
As originally reported by Brazilian journalist Igor Miranda, Simmons appeared woozy during the performance and eventually asked a member of the road crew for a chair.
Simmons proceeded to perform while seated, as seen in audience footage. For such a flamboyant and active performer, it’s an unfortunate sight to see Gene in full costume in a chair onstage. Still, it was admirable of him to go on with the show. Eventually Paul Stanley would pause the proceedings to give Gene a break.
“We’ll need to stop to take care of him because we love him, right?” Stanley told the audience. “Let’s give Gene a very loud ‘Gene’: 1, 2, 3! Ok! We’ll see each other soon, we love you.”

‘Emu Runner’, which debuted at Tiff, will screen as part of Adelaide’s feature competition.
Adelaide Film Festival launched its full program today, including a variety of highlights direct from Venice, Toronto and Telluride.
Among the films announced today are Venice’s Golden Lion winner Roma, from director Alfonso Cuarón; the Coen Brothers’ best screenplay winner The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, and Julian Schnabel’s At Eternity’s Gate, for which Willem Dafoe won best actor.
Overall this year’s program includes more than 130 features, documentaries, shorts, virtual reality and installation works, including 17 world premieres and 30 Australian premieres.
Almost 45 per cent of the films in the line-up are Australian. They include, as previously announced, some of the most anticipated local films of the year, such as Jennifer Kent’s The Nightingale, which just won Venice’s Special Jury Prize and the Marcello Mastroianni award for star Baykali Ganambarr; Anthony Maras...

For the first time, ten documentaries are in competition for the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (Aacta) Award for Best Feature Length Documentary.
The ten films on the shortlist, determined by Aacta’s documentary branch (made up of past winners/nominees as well as other members of the documentary sector), include: Backtrack Boys, Dying to Live, Ghosthunter, Guilty, Gurrumul, Have You Seen the Listers?, Island of the Hungry Ghosts, Jill Bilcock: Dancing the Invisible, Mountain and Working Class Boy.
All Aacta members will then vote to determine the nominees in October, with the winner then to be determined during a second round of voting in November.
