Due South was an excellent show regardless of who the co-star of the great Constable Benton Fraser was. I watched this show religiously on CBS and I was very angry when they took it off the air.
Benton Fraser comes to Chicago on the trails of a killer, he decides to stay as a consulate to America for the Canadians. Ray Vecchio was his first side kick that accompanied him for a few seasons. His dead father also talked to him, Ray's sister was in love with him also. Stanley Raymond Kowalski joined him as a replacement for Vecchio. He did just as good!
I did not understand why CBS decided to ax this show. Well, I guess some executives were smoking crack.
If you look at the state of television today and compare it to a few years back, you'll understand. They just don't make entertaining shows like this anymore. You might be able to catch it in reruns in the U.S. Paul Gross is a director now, he directed and starred in the film, Men with Brooms.
