Silly and Corny, Indicated for Fans of Mazzaropi Only

After being deceived by a small time crook with a promise of a job for his family, Bernardino Jabá (Amácio Mazzaropi), his wife Marcolina Jabá (Geny Prado), their two sons, their daughter and their Spanish friend are mistaken as being "cangaceiros" (bandits from the Northeatern of Brazil). Amácio Mazzaropi was a successful popular comedian along four decades. Brought from the beginning of television in Brazil to the cinema by Vera Cruz studios, he was very popular in the lower classes with his humor. This is the first movie of Mazzaropi that I watch, I tried not to have prejudice, but I really do not like this type of silly and corny story. Further, the film shows a betrayal, which I do not accept even in a comedy. The title, "O Lamparina" means "The Small Night Lamp", and is a joke with the name of the most famous "cangaceiro", "Lampião" (which mean "Large Lamp"). This movie is indicated for fans of Mazzaropi only. My vote is four.

Title (Brazil): "O Lamparina" ("The Small Night Lamp")
