Hands up who likes Nicolas Cage? Ok, hands down – all two of you. As anyone who knows me in the flesh should know, I absolutely bloody love old Nic. Head over heels. We’re not talking I-want-to-have-your-babies here, but pretty close. Maybe I’ll babysit. Anyway, when we here at Thn decided on August being our Guilty Pleasures season, one thought instantly came to mind: every Nicolas Cage film ever. Of course, then I remembered about The Wicker Man (‘Not the beeeeees!’), and realised the title ‘Every Nicolas Cage Film Ever Except The Wicker Man’ was a bit long.
So, here we are: one of my personal favourites of Mr. Cage’s. It’s not his zaniest performance by far (that’s reserved for the abysmal sequel, but the less said about that the better), but I’ve chosen it because, while often cited as one of the worst comic »

It's trite, but accurate: Paula Abdul is forever my girl. Today is the singer/choreographer's 50th birthday, and while the last decade redefined her as Simon Cowell's affable sideick, I think she's a kickass pop icon for plenty of other reasons. Her innocent, but nervy effervescence made her a compelling dancer and performer, and she delivered some of the best music videos of the late '80s and early '90s. Here are 10 reasons I'll always blow her kisses in the wind.
1. "Straight Up" is as addictive now as it was then.
Even without its magnificent video featuring flashy black-and-white jiving and an Arsenio Hall cameo, "Straight Up" remains one of the great, danceable earworms of all time. Who can resist that bridge with its punchy call, "Or-am-i-a-page-in-your-his-tor-y Book?" It's the quintessential Paula jam, and its splashy vulnerability is the trademark of Paula's early career.
2. She literally schooled Janet Jackson. »

Kimbra's crooning vocals and eclectic rhythms bridge the gap between funk and Bjork, and spill from speakers like heated, bubbling honey. Quickly mellifluous with quick pops of sound. Her music is not only pleasant to the ear, but it's just all around fun to listen to. The Kiwi's album Vows debuted last September and she recently collaborated with Gotye on his track "Somebody That I Used to Know" off his album Making Mirrors that came out on January 31st. Her music is well worth seeking out, and to help get you hooked, we've included the music video for her hit "Settle Down", "Cameo Lover", as well as a radio recording session of Kimbra's mash-up of Grizzly Bear's "Two Weeks" and Tears for Fears' "Head Over Heels", and finally the music video for her collaboration with Gotye "Somebody That I Used to Know".

Wow, where to begin with Catherine? Originally released in Japan in February 2011 and the Us in July of the same year, I originally played the demo of the game that was made available in the Us Playstation Store, a demo I fell in love with (pardon the pun) straight away. The heady mix of puzzles, love-sim like gameplay and the strange survival horror aspect of the game made for an intriguing title and I looked forward to the game in earnest. Sadly the road to the UK was not as straight forward as one would have hoped and it is only now, some seven months after its Us debut that UK gamers can, thanks to Deep Silver, enjoy the “epic-weirdness” that is Catherine.
Let’s get this straight, for all intents and purposes, Catherine is a sim-style game, driven by the story of Vincent a thirty-something man who drifts between his job, »
