Tom Sizemore outstanding in impenetrable heist story
"Swindle" (02) carries an IMDb rating of 5.6, which is just about right, indicating a low average picture. Tom Sizemore does a great job as an undercover cop in on a bank heist. The rest of the cast is good. Conrad Pla makes a memorable creepy psychopathic type. Sherilyn Fenn is adequate as the gang mastermind. Kenneth McGregor is notable too. The smaller parts are also well filled out. The bank settings look good. The production looks spiffy. So, what's the problem? Why isn't this a better movie? The answer is a story that's too foggy to follow, with loose ends all over the place, and a screenplay that fails to have the necessary sparkle to the dialog as well as one that engenders confusion. If I raise the questions I was left with, it will spoil what there is of the story; so I won't.
