Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that, instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, you use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

A character wears a midriff-revealing shirt. A few times a boy comments on how cute a girl is.

Violence & Gore

People are burned alive. It's not shown but implied.

Ash is zapped by electric beams Mew and Mewtwo are shooting at each other, falls to the ground and turns brownish-gray; Pikachu unsuccessfully tries to zap him back to life a few times and Ash eventually is resuscitated by the characters' tears.

In an extended, battle to the end scene, we see characters punching, biting, slapping and wrestling with each other (none are killed). Some characters are shot with laser beams and electrocuted (a few look charred and make crackling sounds). Two characters shoot each with electric beams then run next to each other, knocking many characters out of their way as they speed by. Dragons breathe fire at characters a few times (one gets charred), a dragon's fire is deflected back onto it (the dragon falls down) and two dragons fight and fly into each other (one is driven into the ground and knocked unconscious).

Lots of characters are lifted up, thrown on the ground or into walls, chased, charged at and knocked down by other characters (sometimes this is played for laughs); also, a few fall from heights (mostly into water). A character creates a windstorm that lifts stampeding buffalo off the ground, then zaps them, making them disappear.

A machine grabs a boy and a character (both escape, though the character has a hair plucked from it); also, Pokemon are captured in balls and put into a machine. A couple of times, two groups of characters stand chest to chest and look as if they're about to fight.

While crossing the sea during a storm, several people are knocked out of a boat by a large wave and are plunged underwater a few times before reaching the shore. We see several characters with Xs or spirals over their eyes and mouths after they fall or after they're caught in explosions. A character hooked up to wires in a tank breaks free, shatters other tanks and equipment in a lab and causes several fires and explosions; a few other explosions.

Profanity

None. This is a G-rated picture.

None.

Not very many frightening scenes, but the premise of the movie is dark and that may or may not be unsettling to young children.

The scene where Ash is turned to stone can be emotional. However, he is later brought back to life by the Pokemon's tears.

The extended cut has a very tragic scene about life and death with elements that even would disturb some adults.

Despite being a G-rated movie, the opening sequence involves Mewtwo waking up and slaughtering all of the scientists who made him. The killings are all off screen. However, Mewtwo blows up the building, and that's all onscreen.

Should be re-rated PG by the MPAA for Animated Violence.
