We have some sad news to pass: visual effects pioneer Ron Thornton has passed away after a lengthy battle with illness.
Thornton began his career working in special effects for Doctor Who and Blake’s 7, and went on to forge an impressive path through the world of visual effects. He worked on sixty-five episodes of Babylon 5 (through his company, Foundation Imaging), seven of Star Trek: Enterprise, and seventeen of Star Trek: Voyager (on which he co-created Species 8472 and worked on the famous crash landing scene from Timeless, which earned an Emmy nomination).
His visual effects prowess was also implemented on Star Trek: Nemesis, Starship Troopers: The Series, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, the 2005 version of Captain Scarlet and the 2001 directors edition of Star Trek: The Motion Picture. He worked in models and miniatures, »
Earlier this month, Well Go USA released a new poster for the highly-anticipated horror sequel, Phantasm: Ravager, which will bring the beloved franchise to a close when it hits theaters on October 7. Today we have new photos which give us a better look at The Tall Man, played by Angus Scrimm, along with Mike (A. Michael Baldwin) and Reggie (Reggie Banister). This film marks the final performance of Angus Scrimm, who passed away in January at the age of 89. He had already long completed his work on the film, which wrapped principal photography back in March 2014.

As fans impatiently await the arrival of the final Phantasm film, Phantasm: Ravager, Well Go USA has debuted a brand new poster. This one-sheet teases the "final game" played by the iconic Tall Man, as fans get ready for the release in limited theaters on October 7. It isn't known how many theaters it will play in, but it will also be released on Digital HD that same day, along with Phantasm: Remastered, a high-definition remastered version of the original 1979 classic, that was overseen by director Don Coscarelli and J.J. Abrams.
