hard but not as hard as raider 4
18 August 2002 | by (Scotland) – See all my reviews

some people i know think that raider 3 is the hardest one of the 5 raider`s. i personally think that part 4 is the hardest with it`s style of puzzle`s. sure this one has huge level`s which is good cos it means that it will not be finished in two or three day`s. this one took me 2 and a half weeks to finish with out the help of solutions magazine`s or asking anyone for help with puzzle`s.

the level design was really good as it was in every tomb raider but the stand out level`s in this game were - the first level of the desert section it`s been a while since i`ve played it i think the first desert level is called `nevada desert` i may be wrong cos it`s been a while but it`s really good atmosphere in the level it makes you feel as if you are all alone for a little while in the desert untill you reach the security compound thats where you get access to the quad bike which is good fun :). dont want to spoil too much for any one who has not played it yet or not got that far so i`ll say no moreon that level.

another standout level is the first level of the south pacific section ``coastal ruins`` it has a huge amount of atmosphere and some beautiful scenery including a huge waterfall which you have to jump into to retreive one of the three jewels you need to open the gate at the other side of the waterfall doing all this while about a couple of hundred feet off the ground people with shaky hands will find it nerve rackig which just add`s to the fun of the game :).

i think that every level has a huge amount of atmosphere and for a game like this you have to for you to enjoy it. it pulls you in even more if it does have the atmosphere.

the puzzle`s in it can be worked out with a little running about like a looney for about 5 or 10 minutes. a puzzle i liked was on the level ``the crash site`` were you had to navigate Lara across a swamp covered in big lilly pad`s or leaf`s or what ever they are called . some of them were unsafe if she landed on them you would sink in to the swamp so you had to work out what ones were safe and what one`s were not. or unlike me you could use a little map you have giving you clue`s to which one`s were safe i did not pay attention to the map untill i was on the other side of the swamp and i thought what was this map for so i looked at it and it hit me `use it to guide you across the swamp` i almost kung-fu`d my playstation across the room. oh well i did it the hard way :).

all in all this is a great game and a worthy sequel rating for the game 10/10.

p.s the best atmosphere levels in the entire game was the whole antartica section pure genius in level design and atmosphere :). in those level`s you get to use a motor powered dingy and a mine cart very enjoyable :).
