Not bad exposure, but not good
PeterMitchell-506-56436426 February 2013
As not remembering much about this movie I vidie'd so many years ago, it was a passable adult flick that actually worked better as a buddy movie. The one striking moment I recall, thanks to the trailer, was a naked nubile woman running through the house with a strap on dildo. I recall the theme of the movie about two long time mates reunited, who go off on a model shot with some female acquaintances, the less sexually satisfied Jesse St James, a attractive lone photographer, whose been missing out on a lot of stuff, sexually. If I can remember, she falls for Edwards who's got his own marital problems, where at the suggestion of friend, Bolla, takes off with him, where this trip does prove to be interesting, to say the least. We've got some hot 20 something phillies in smaller roles to compensate some. Things get a little weird near the end, involving an older group of people who invite our mains back to their house, where some really weird going ons ensue, which proved a nice touch to this quite, not overly, erotic film.

Romantic Roundelay
Nodriesrespect19 December 2010
Warning: Spoilers
For some reason, a peculiar critical backlash occurred following an initially favorable reception for this classy collaboration between producer Ted "Harold Lime" Paramore and filmmaker Gary "Robert McCallum" Graver (both of whom have regrettably passed on in recent years), establishing it as the most unjustly maligned among their string of joint ventures including the legendary likes of THE ECSTASY GIRLS, COED FEVER and AMANDA BY NIGHT. Of course, way back in 1981, adult cinema's avowed Golden Age was still in full swing, audiences were spoiled for choice and any carnal commentator worth his salt could afford to be finicky about his likes or dislikes. In this case, the script by Paramore and C.W. O'Hara - who went on to pen SATISFACTIONS, CENTERSPREAD GIRLS and SOCIETY AFFAIRS for the same team - bore the brunt of their misaimed wrath, undoubtedly due to a third act radical shift in tone from ribaldry to soul-searching throwing them for a loop. Never mind that the movie contained more common wisdom and emotional truth than at least half a dozen Woody Allen films !

In the wake of a messy divorce, sensitive Ted (Eric Edwards) is strung along by former college chum Tony Ross (Robert "Bolla" Kerman) who has found a lucrative way to scratch an incessant itch, posing as high class "European" fashion photographer "Antonio Rossini", giving him unlimited access to all the aspiring models he can handle. Inviting his buddy to share the wealth gets Tony into hot water with both long-suffering girlfriend Lilah (Veronica Hart) and girl Friday assistant June (Jesie St. James) who has a crush on Ted. Oblivious to the disapproval they incur from their female companions, the guys are having a field day, screwing willing wannabes left, right and center. A mysterious assignment takes the gang to the mansion of batty aristocrat Ariellana Van Laren-DeVane (Georgina Spelvin), a wealthy eccentric whose game-playing skills far exceed their own. The formerly frolicsome foursome is forced to confront some home truths about their needs and desires as a midnight sex partner bait 'n' switch, orchestrated by their hands on hostess, brings about a happy ending of sorts for all involved.

Preceding this creatively convoluted climax, similar to the rightfully - if a tad arbitrarily - revered private party sequence from the Paramore-produced, Richard "Ramsey Karson" Kanter-directed DESIRES WITHIN YOUNG GIRLS, Graver (as per usual doubling as his own DoP) keeps the plot bubbling along nicely with several carefully crafted carnal situations, effortlessly combining breezy humor with seriously solid sex. Edwards's Ted makes up for lost time with real life lady love Arcadia Lake as a health food nut appropriately named Karma and lovely Lime regular Lily "Laura West" Rodgers (also appearing in a couple of porn's most head-scratching attempts at science friction : Anne Perry's STAR BABE and Scott McHaley's extremely elusive STARSHIP EROS) as the allegedly underage bratty Chrissy. Of particular interest to star-spotters is the ballet class orgy involving fan favorites Tigr, Nicole Noir and Victoria Knoll, the fly by night starlet otherwise only seen in Svetlana's original BAD GIRLS. Ravishing Renee La Paz is the model in bow tie from the opening scene, not performing in a sexual capacity but employed in much of the movie's publicitary material. Fans can see her do the dirty in Svetlana's SEXBOAT and Joe Sherman's PLATO'S : THE MOVIE. While the guys eagerly adopt an anything that moves criteria, their spurned mates seek solace with one another for one of the all time great Sapphic scenes.

Needless to say, all five leads do an excellent job in the acting department, Hart and Kerman once again defending their championship title of adult's answer to Tracy and Hepburn with great zeal. Spelvin works wonders with what at first appears as an underwritten part. Hunk next door Edwards already had his finely honed Mr. Sensitivity persona down to an art and the sweetly vulnerable St. James projects a wounded pride that's tremendously appealing. Each creates a complete character that you can care for and identify with, making the eventual outcome all the more gratifying. If there is indeed any aspect that seriously dates this well-made adult film, the happy clappy disco ditties by Richard "Ronny Romanovitch" Hieronymus could surely qualify as a potential handicap. Unless - like me - you're nostalgic for the way porn used to sound, in which case the deficiency's automatically transformed into another asset. It has become something of a sport among skin flick scribes to herald one particular hardcore classic above all others as THE perfect first film for loving couples looking to acquire a regular adult viewing habit. Entirely in the spirit of my 2 cents worth, my personal vote would go to this intelligent, witty if not downright sexy exploration of the human condition. This is as good as it gets, people, make no mistake about it !

Extremely Well-Made Film

Indecent Exposure (1981)

*** (out of 4)

Antonio (Richard Bolla) is a photographer who uses his position to bang any new girl that comes into the business but when his friend (Eric Edwards) comes into town he isn't against sharing.

INDECENT EXPOSURE comes from director Gary Graver who is best known for his role as a cinematographer. He worked with everyone from Orson Welles to Al Adamson and made a name for himself thanks to his camera but he also directed over a hundred adult films and this one here is considered among the best. I will say that the story itself was rather plot-less and pointless but the film did have a couple things going for it that made it worth watching.

The cast is one thing and especially with Bolla, aka Robert Kerman, in the lead role. A lot of people are going to best know him from the various Italian horror films that he made but more times than not he was always a supporting player. This film here pretty much has him in the lead and I thought he turned in a good and rather funny performance. Edwards was also good in his role and we also got the likes of Veronica Hart, Georgina Spelvin and Arcadia Lake.

What really made the movie was the cinematography. I know people don't go into adult movies just for the camerawork but what's on display here is extremely good. The film was rather creative in the various ways that the sex scenes were shot and I must admit that it was rather refreshing seeing someone at least trying to be creative and original. The editing was also much better than you'd normally get from a hardcore picture.

The sex scenes are all mostly routine but good and for the most part the film remains entertaining throughout.

Warning: Spoilers
By the time that this movie was made the adult real sex motion picture business had been producing adult features for over 10 years. The soft core side was dead. That side was producing less of their brand of adult films. This is a travel film.It was directed and cinema photographed excellently by g and r rated family film maker ,editor and cinematographer Gary Graver under the name Robert MacCallum. This proves that family film makers can do adult movies with real sex in it .This film was made at the time when VHS was slowly rising ,before the internet and there was still theatrical revenue both in hard top and drive inn theaters ,that by this time were dwindling more. Robert Kerman is good in his character as sleazy fashion photographer who pretends to be Italian. Your cowardly and fake liberals would probably get offend at this characters, but they also would get offended at porn in general,in the name of human rights, since they are political white picket fences.Who cares! Kerman character is always violating business ethics by convincing the models to sleep with him.In real life this could affect the photographers business cause he or she is focusing on more sex than making a living. Kerman's photographer is also bossy and wants things his way and not giving the other workers a chance to make suggestions.Eric's character is man who just got a divorce. His life was dull now unemployed, alimony,I thought that was dead by 81, and a girl friend .The photographer then suggest to go with him on a professional trip and would give Eric something to do .This is when he gets new experiences.Jane Hamilton ,Aka Veronica Hart, is his assistance of Kerman and were originally lovers, but, when he got successful it went to his head and he began to get involve with the models. This broke off their romance.Jessie saint James is a Tomboy technician who is an intellectual puritan against sex and a virgin. She just hates being around Kerman and Hamilton because they fight all the time.In one scene they are doing a shoot with a 18 year old girl played by Lilly Rodgers, who graduated from high school ,whom her father is played by character none sex adult actor Elmo Levino. As soon as the shoot is finished Jane knows that Kerman is going to try to seduce Lilly so she get Eric to take Lilly home, which angers Kerman. It turns out that she tricks Eric to seduce her although implied she tries to straps on Eric until he runs out of the house.Earlier when hey are doing a shoot with Arcadia lake who plays a vegetarian that runs alternative grocery store, this is the firs time you see a little of her brows since she always cover them up with her bangs. Kerman sets up for Eric to be seduced by Arcadia ,which angers both his professional assistance. She seduce Eric in position connected with celery sticks and ,I think, milk. It all Turns out when they're invited to one of the stock holder house,a mansion, portrayed by Georgina Spevlin portraying bored wealthy women who studies psychology. She knows the problems of these people and she set to help them in solving it The lesbian scene between Jane and Jessie is hot.The Romantic sex scene with Eric and Jane is hot.The mildly kinky scene that involve Kerman and Spelvin then Jessie is somewhat hot .Tigr and Nichol Noir along with Cat Dalton and other portray ballet students, who get involved in Kerman photo shoots which lead to group sex after the shoot ,which turn out that Tigr was trying to convince Kerman to take her with them to be a model. It does not work.Although Vinegar Syndrome verison has ratio it as 1:85:1 i.m.d.b. reads that it was shot at 1:37:1.If they are right then this version had been cropped and it wasn't shot in wide screen.Well that does not matter. In it is the trailer which is rather grainy for some reason.Very entertaining produced in the late years of the golden age of porn before internet.

Glossy, empty 'porno chic'
lor_8 October 2023
A relatively big-budget "Porno Chic" porno feature, "Indecent Exposure" plays like a real film, with decent acting and many of the cliches of rom-coms of an earlier era -the sort of 1960s male chauvinist romps. Presence of femme porn royalty Veronica Hart, Jesie St. James and guest star Georgina Spelvin helps balance the equation though it is the story of buddies R. Bolla and Eric Edwards that dominates the old-fashioned humor.

Format of a road movie, with the quartet of stars traveling around New York state to photograph young models for a layout, provides the look of an on-location film, and glamorous costuming, styling, makeup, etc., makes it easy to watch. Bolla's hammy overacting and the sniggering approach to sex comedy are big detriments, while Hart and Jesie are dependably fine actresses. The sex scenes are Old School, running about four minutes long rather than today's "sex is all" half-hour each durations.

It's meant as a feel-good movie, with the sexist approach sugar-coated by Spelvin as a grand dame manipulating the other characters into better behavior for a fake happy ending.
