Fun adaptation of Simon's one-act play Checkov collection

THE GOOD DOCTOR played Broadway for a limited run and brought about the fateful meeting of playwright Neil Simon and struggling actress Marsha Mason. Miss Mason, fresh from her star-making role in CINDERELLA LIBERTY, scored also in this funny and poignant adaptation of Checkov one-acters. The tv version replaced Christopher Plummer with Richard Chamberlain. Gary Dontzig, another struggling young comic actor of the time and friend of Ms. Mason's, essayed the role of The Son in the television version. This young man went on to success as writer/developer/executive producer of MURPHY BROWN, winning two Emmys in the process.
