Season 1, Episode 1: The Tale of the Forever Game

Impatient with his younger sister Monica's inability to keep up with him and his friend Mark while biking in the woods, Peter leaves them behind, but then leads them on an unfamiliar trail were the three get lost and seem to be going in circles back to an odd tree. They split up but instead of leaving, he goes to examine the tree, then is transported inside and falls into a room with a board game and a mysterious boy, Nathaniel. He offers to play the Forever Game with Peter, who accepts but then realizes that every move made on the board effects the woods Monnica and Mark are still looking for him in, by changing the whether or causing strange things to happen. And the game's winner will not only release those in the woods but also be freed from the tree - while the loser must stay behind.

David wants to be a rich comic-book artist instead of working at his family's Chinese restaurant. His grandfather gives him a box he says is symbolic, and when David opens it he sees it contains fortune cookies. He's ready to sell them, but his sister Theresa won't let him. When he reads a fortune he drops, David doesn't understand it - but he's even more confused when he's offered a limo ride, and when his family's restaurant is now an expensive one. His parents and now-rebellious sister, planning to sell her late grandfather's fortune bookies to run away from her distant parents with a wild boyfriend, don't know him, and he's told he's a famous graphic-novel artist. On top of everything else, he seems to be pursued by a black-clad warrior.

What Tate doesn't know is that losing means he will be owned by Mr. Click, who doesn't need an excuse to do something harsh to a cocky gambler who insults him, since he shrinks his victims to sell as pets.

Wiley doesn't have as much luck trying out for the school hockey team as Zach does. Then he runs into a mysterious figure in the locker-room basement, who says that Wiley reminds him of a player who didn't start off well either, but soon improved amazingly when he got a certain hockey-stick: Jake "the Snake" Desmond. He tells Wiley where to find the stick, which still has the title "Snake" on it. Wiley does do excellently with it - he makes it into the last opening on the team instead of Zach, but doesn't act like he cares about his friend. Zach soon notices that Wiley's flesh begins peeling heavily, and he grows distant from him, saying he's better than Jake the Snake so is the greatest hockey-player himself. He even seems to be tempted to eat mice. Zach follows Wiley to where he got the stick and meets the character - Jake Desmond, now a man in snake's form, who tells Zach that every time Wiley uses the stick, he will continue the process of transforming into a snake, like all the players who used the stick after he did. Zach knows he must save his friend, but the only problem is he doesn't know how to stop Wiley from playing.

While in Sardo's magic shop, Max buys an eraser and pencil, then discovers they're magical when the incorrect sketch of fruit he erases results in the model itself disappearing. Whatever he draws or writes down with the pencil then erases is removed from Earth, so Max begins to use it to his advantage by erasing things he hates, like his piano and mean dog. But his sister Shelley, who he wishes to get more time away from, doesn't believe him, and when he erases her, he has to erase himself and the tools to find and bring her back. It turns out that what is erased enters Oblivion, a place where a being named Kronos who originally claimed the tools destroys them once they're within his reach...

That night, he goes looking in the famous coffins the legendary Dreyfus was said to be in, but learns the story isn't legend. And he not only has to face Dreyfus, but also some locals who know vampires are real and take Adder's actions to heart enough to think he himself is a vampire.

When his friends imply Nick was only pretending to like her on a bet, Meggie wants nothing to do with him, but he's determined to prove his loyalty to her by confronting the writer who won't leave her alone and left a threatening note for him. It isn't until later that Meggie learns the person may be a ghost who wrote letters to her mother, and she must race against time to save Nick...

Dani and her brother Kirk search for her friend Gina, who mysteriously skied off into an isolated area near their mountain home. They don't find her, but then Dani begins seeing Gina appear and beg for help in mirrors and on TV, so goes out again. She and Kirk find an abandoned cabin with an old woman who says she is Gina, aged after an encounter with something called the Aumbra. The Aumbra already took the life of the ski-patroller Gina followed, and can only be stopped by light - but with a thunderstorm approaching as night falls, and wood and flashlight batteries running low, they have to keep it at bay until dawn so it doesn't prey upon Dani next.

Season 2, Episode 1: The Tale of the Silver Sight: Part 1

Gary, Tucker's brother and the former president of the Midnight Society, dreams he visits the present one, but is met instead by a demonic-looking character then by his grandfather, Gene, panicked about something and begging for help. The next day Gary gets a call from his grandmother saying Gene has died and left something for him. He and Tucker go to visit and receive a piece of a record and a note saying that it is one of five pieces with a clue written on it about an evil magic charm known as the Silver Sight, which the original Midnight Society Gene was the president of brought to life before realizing its nature and it began to cause trouble for them. His last request was for the Silver Sight, which caused him to have a heart attack when worrying about its possible return, to be found and destroyed. The brothers visit the New Midnight Society, and the members agree to help locate the remaining four members of the 1937 Midnight Society to collect their record-pieces, given to them by a traitor among the group who hid the Silver Sight and wrote the clues in case it ever needed to be destroyed. Gary and Tucker go to General Liang Candle for information, but before they can get the record and while comparing notes with the other members in Gary's college dorm, they receive a frantic phone call from Grandma Aggie, whose home a masked intruder broke into to search for a record piece. Going back to the General's, Tucker is approached by a mysterious boy who warns him away, and finds the record-piece he was looking for - but is attacked by the suits of armor in the room while trying to get it...

Season 2, Episode 2: The Tale of the Silver Sight: Part 2

Quinn goes to Donna Tilton's old address but finds only a junkyard whose owner Vince was Donna's boyfriend before a string of bad luck tore them apart. Meanwhile, Megan finds the family of Eleanor Gregory's son - who live underground to hide out since her stock-market fortune was lost. When a truck hits Vince's office and nearly kills he and Quinn, he realizes that the Silver Sight is returning to its evil power and advises Quinn against seeking it, but agrees to give him Donna's piece of the record if Quinn retrieves his drawing of Donna that Liang Candle stole. The Gregorys drive Megan out when she mentions the Silver Sight, but their son Jim agrees to help her. When she returns, she finds Candle ransacking their home looking for the record-piece, and is sure that he is the traitor. The strange boy who guided Megan to their home is caught in the underground train tracks - before telling her not to hunt the Silver Sight, disappearing and leaving Megan in the path of a train. Quinn gets Vince's picture but is approached by the same boy, who warns him not to search by transforming the sketch. Also, Quinn is attacked by the same mysterious dog on the way out from seeing Vince as the one who chased him in...

Season 2, Episode 3: The Tale of the Silver Sight: Part 3

Andy and Vange finally find out about Bruce McGorrill through his brother Bob. Bruce left his record piece behind, but not in his amusement park Playland where his brother thought. Instead, he leaves behind a clue that shows it's in a well, and when Vange goes inside to unbury it, something evil attacks. The whole record plays a message from Gene warning against a demon and for the group to work together, and know their true enemy. They eventually track down the background music and physical clues to Playland's carousel, and find the Silver Sight, but then are confronted both by the odd boy everyone except Gary and Andy has seen, encouraging them to use it for seizing power, and by Liang Candle, who did break into the brothers' grandmother's and the Gregorys' but claims he was trying to beat them to defeating the boy, whom he claims is a demon. The six are unsure who is really evil, but will have to choose in order to stop whoever killed the original Midnight Society...

Kevin is reluctant to introduce his artist girlfriend Julie to his uptight and judgmental parents, but she takes that the wrong way and decides they're not meant to be together. He goes walking in the woods alone, and is thirsty enough to drink water falling from the pot of a statue of a woman. He feels sick afterward, and Julie and their friends don't see him return. The next day a strange professor approaches Julie and claims he knows where Kevin is, then leads her to a stone statue that looks like him, claiming Kevin turned into it. Julie doesn't believe it at first, but then meets the statue's creator, Vivian White. It turns out that the statue was based on a Greek myth about a star-crossed couple who chose to turn to stone and always be together, and there was never water in the bucket that the statue had been holding before. They learn that the statue has been divided in half, with a male subject detached from it, so the woman probably released water like tears and transformed Kevin. The only problem is, they have to get a hold of the other half of the statue to turn him back.

When Justin has to get a new mirror for his car when his friend Craig breaks it, Craig buys an old junkyard car and decides to fix it up. The two go for a drive but end up stopping at a formerly rundown diner now looking new, where a pair they met at the junkyard who seem to know about the car are. They also meet a trucker who's an old nemesis of the others, and now warns the car's current owners to keep out of the way. Craig wishes for a chance to prove himself to the man and gets it when they can't seem to get off the road or lose the truck, until they finish a race the car's old owners started years ago - that ended fatally for them.

Alex and Chandler both want to be in their private school's greatest club, the Lions Society, but the group decide they don't want Alex since he got in on a scholarship and isn't wealthy. Chandler breaks his promise that he won't go in on his own, since he's desperate to be a part of the club that two generations of his family have been in. Using Alex's idea of stealing a photograph of a headmaster to put on the detention-board for an initiation prank, he hides the theft by taking off what turns out to be a cover picture of the man to reveal a photo of a boy on the porch of a building. Alex notices that the subject vanishes, but Chandler doesn't until he looks - then he is drawn into the picture by the student holding a camera when he does reappear. Alex finds out through Professor Barish, a former Lions Society member, that the boy was Jasper Davis, a scholarship-student rejected from the Lions Society in the 1940s, who fell off a roof and died when he ran off after getting the news and being chased by the merciless club. Renfrew, the president who wouldn't take Alex and threatened not to take Chandler if he protested, looks into the photo whose settings he recognizes as an old club building and is drawn in also. Alex finds the building and enters a black-and-white world, where Jasper gets revenge on all Lions, past and present, by taking pictures of them that trap them in frames, and now is back since Chandler removed the picture Barish put over him. Alex has to stop his photography if he wants to save his friends - and himself.

Emma doesn't have any luck modeling, but is approached by a woman looking for an actress at Mademe Visage's Theatre of Many Faces. She's given a powder for free that most actresses there are said to use, and suddenly finds she is the center of attention as a model. When she returns to the theater, the other members there who somehow all look pale and identical have her watch Mademe Visage stare into an empty book, and suddenly her face is on the page while her head is bare and shows no signs of life, then she touches Emma's face and steals her looks, as she's been doing for years to stay young. Emma sees that everyone else under Mademe's power is too afraid to disobey since they don't want to be cast out into the world where their strange empty faces will find them outcast, or torturing them with the Book of Punishment so they feel pain within the pages. However, she'll need help to fight Mademe and stop her from going after her friend Jessie next.

Season 2, Episode 13: The Tale of the Night Nurse

AJ and her bossy sister Nikki see figures that look like they're going to a party appearing and disappearing at their grandfather's, and he asks questions that shows he knows who they are but claims they don't exist. The sisters figure out that they're ghosts, and that years ago the house was home to a girl who had an accident at her birthday party, and was murdered by her nurse. They try to contact Emily before realizing that the nurse's ghost is also alive, looking to kill someone else, and that Emily's dress will take its wearer back in time to the day of her accident, to stop the nurse from killing her...
