A lamentable example of how low the public TV channel Televisión de Galicia has fallen since old dinosaur Manuel Fraga reached the presidency of the Xunta in 1989. This show might have been OK if made in the 1950s... on second thought, it would have sucked just as hard in the fifties, but the fact that it was first aired in 1995 and, ten years after and as of TODAY, new episodes have been being made and aired without intermission, with new ones still coming, is an embarrassment of the worst kind.
If you have seen an episode of this garbage, you've seen them all: Antón will always think of absurd plans to make money, will hire dumb brother-in-law Miro along, and they'll both be unmasked in the end and forced to do some work as a punishment. That's it. Yet this, as I say, is there in prime-time since 1995 and enjoys a respectable audience among the geriatric population (exclusive target of TVG in the Fragasaur era, it seems), along with the equally pitiful game show "Supermartes" and the musical parade of has-beens and crap musicians known as "Luar" (both on the air since 1992!). Just bread and circus while Fraga & Co. were making Galicia their own private feud.
This rubbish stays and no attempt is made to find fresh alternatives, with the ones that have been tried either being killed in first season or degenerating in unwatchability (such as "Mareas vivas"). The saddest thing of them all is, the lack of industry makes fine actors such as Ernesto Chao and the immensely talented Xosé Manuel Olveira 'Pico' keep on appearing in this, and the ones who flew (Sergio Pazos, Fely Manzano) had to return or starve to death. Mabel Rivera left the series to do "Mar adentro", let's hope she doesn't have to come back.
Just killing this, "Supermartes" and "Luar" would be the first giant pass in making a decent channel out of TVG. Let's hope the new Galician Government does something with it at last!
