Best Kitaro remake
13 March 2015 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

Here is another anime version of "Gegege no Kitarō" I really love besides the 1968 version. In case you folks don't know, Kitaro is my latest anime obsession since last summer.

A reason to love this remake is because it was made on my birth year - 1985; what an era I was born in. Another reason I love this version is because of the animation and design in it. Also the pairings I "shipped" like Kitaro & Yumeko Tendo. I'm sorry Kitaro & Neko-Musume shippers, true I like "friendship-turned-to-love" matches but I have my limit. Another pairing I ship is Nezumi-Otoko & Caroline from the movie "Gegege no Kitarō: Gekitotsu!! Ijigen Yōkai no Dai-Hanran"; I really, really wanna see that movie! After watching episodes online, I now have 23 favorite episodes. Like I had said many episodes are remakes of older episode stories and it is really hard for me to choose which version of an episode I love.

So anyway, I love both the 1968 and 1985 version out of the five anime versions of "Gegege no Kitarō." And I do hope the company "DiscoTek" would license the series as well as the movies to North American DVD.
