Syfy has given a second season to “The Expanse” and is increasing the episode order from 10 to 13 for the futuristic mystery’s sophomore turn, Variety has learned.
The Alcon Television Group series gained traction from an online debut in November that brought in 4.5 million viewers before its official premiere on Dec. 14 on Syfy. The first three episodes that have aired on Syfy have brought in an average 1.6 million P2+ linear viewers (L3).
“‘The Expanse’ is firing on all cylinders creatively, building a passionate fan base among viewers and critics alike, and delivering on Syfy’s promise of smart, provocative science fiction entertainment. We can’t wait to see where the story takes us in season two,” said Dave Howe, president of Syfy and Chiller.

From comic-book adaptations to sci-fi, fantasy and horror. Here are the new geek-skewed shows coming to Us TV in 2016...
The world of TV has never been so crowded and, at the same time, geeks have never had it so good. As saturated as the big screen is with superhero films and sprawling shared universes, that mentality has well and truly bled onto the small screen too.
So there’s a lot of comic-book adaptations coming up in 2016 from Marvel, DC and others, but genre TV is represented across the board with science-fiction, fantasy and horror represented at pretty much every network and cable channel in the Us.
Here's some of the geek TV that will be making its way to us from the Us next year.

Last summer at San Diego Comic Con, we got to sit on the bridge of the Enterprise and learn a little bit about the concept for the Hollywood Science Fiction Museum. Just in the beginning stages, it sounded pretty cool, but when we caught up with the Huston Huddleston the museum’s founder at WonderCon to talk about the progress we were blown away.
Set to open later this year at an existing Los Angeles museum, the Hollywood Sci-Fi Museum has plans to open its own location eventually. This location will feature a space ship restaurant, as well as a museum that will house a hall of cars, a hall of space ships, a hall of robots, and a ginormous store where you can buy everything from Harry Potter wands to Sonic Screwdrivers. It will also have sections for all the movies and shows in the genre. And there will »

Wrapping up its most watched season in seven years, The CW Network presented its 2015-16 broadcast schedule today to advertisers, affiliates and national media at New York City Center in New York City. The indie-pop band Of Monsters and Men kicked off the presentation with a live performance of their latest single "Crystals," and their international hit song "Little Talks." Here's what CW's Mark Pedowitz had to say in a statement.
"This has been a terrific season for The CW, and is a result of a strategy we set in motion a few years ago to broaden out and grow our audience. We had our most watched season, and our highest-rated season among men, in seven years. We launched The CW's most watched series ever with The Flash, and with The Flash and Jane the Virgin, we received more critical acclaim than ever before. The CW is heading into »

The CW officially ordered three new dramas on Thursday afternoon, but the big news is the pick-up we all already new was coming. The "Flash"/"Arrow" spinoff has officially been ordered to series and after having been called various permutations on "untitled," it finally has a title: Say hello to "DC's Legends of Tomorrow." I'll remind you of the details on "Legends of Tomorrow" in a minute, but The CW also ordered "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" and "Cordon" to series. Since The CW already has 10+ returning shows on tap for the 2015-2016 season, the network isn't announcing schedule timetables or episode counts yet. We'll see if that news comes at The CW's upfront presentation to advertisers next Thursday. Let's get details: "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" focuses on time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter, who has to recruit a rag-tag team of heroes and villains to help prevent an apocalypse that could impact not only Earth, »

The Mikaelsons’ Aunt Dahlia is coming to The Originals, and now we finally know who will be playing her on The CW vampire drama. As first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Farscape’s Claudia Black has been cast in the role of the mysterious and incredibly dangerous witch, who is also the maternal aunt of the Mikaelson siblings. As we learned this season on The Originals, Dahlia helped her younger sister, Esther (the mother of Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah, Kol, Finn, and Freya), with a fertility spell. However, the spell came with a price, as Dahlia wanted the first-born of every generation, taking Esther’s oldest daughter, Freya (played by Riley Voelkel), as payment at the time. When the Mikaelson children were all turned into vampires (who typically cannot reproduce), it was believed by Esther that Dahlia would have no reason to go after her family again, but when Klaus and Hayley had a child of… »
