An underrated gem...

I don't get why such a film is not more known. It should have been. It is a very important movie in Bourvil's career. In this feature he sings a very popular french song: LA TACATAQUETIQUE DU GENDARME...that every one knows in France, at least the eldest...The very amusing tale of a petty gendarme who inherits of a very big legacy from a Foster father. The latest died whilst being the king of a small central Europe country. And our lead - Bourvil - remains at his job - refusing to change anything to his life. A meddlesome gendarme osbsessed with rules and policies ofall kinds. Bourvil gives here one his best performances ever. Again, I don't understand why this film is not more widely known.
