Intimate Nights is a movie that seems to have been composed by some smart people. And while I applaud them for at least telling the man-made babes that they won't be needed, the film makers still drop the ball.J. Cynthia Brooks is Tina Tudor, one of the hottest exotic dancers in the U.S. One day, Tina witnesses her kindly club owner Leo get murdered by gangsters. She gets police protection because they need her to identify the killer (Collin Bernsen, yes Corbin's brother!) She is in the protection of two detectives, one of whom, played by Chris Johnston just got his promotion. This young man is in a bit of a pickle; he wants to propose to his girlfriend (Kim Yates) of 10 years, but he is captivated by Miss Tudor. Will he be drawn into her trap?First off, if the film makers wanted a beautiful natural woman to play Tina, they could have brought in the gorgeous Kira Reed, the innocent looking Gabriella Hall, or best of all, the knockout whose name is Jennifer Burton. Hell, imagine Gina Gershon in this film. Instead we get J. Cynthia Brooks, who has the moves but none of the beauty. Imagine an anorexic, uglier Kathie Lee Gifford as the woman men want to pay to see do a striptease. I guess alcohol consumption or women with visible rib cages are big in the U.S.Second, some horrible acting is in the offing. Jim Stevens, who plays the other detective, tries to be Sonny Crockett. I was waiting for Ricardo Tubbs to come with him on his rounds. LoriDawn Messuri, who plays his wife and shares the only good "philisophical discussion" scenes, overacts badly, delivering horrible Shakespeare filled with profanities. Brooks is awful, too. Only Johnston, Yates, and Bernsen deliver adequate performances. Also, some poor logic. Since when are club owners nice, kindly, middle-aged men. Why does the city have a lack of people in homicide? How can Johnston and Yates afford such a huge bungalow on their salary?Still, all the flaws made it a decent softie, but it could have been so much better. Oh, well...
