This wrestling show quickly grew into one of the most popular sports/entertainment shows ever. In addition to presenting matches between the stars of the WWF, this program spent most of its time on the elaborate backstage story that had developed, involving feuds, deals, backstabbings and romances between the wrestlers, managers, referees and commissioners. In 1995 - 2001, WWF (now WWE) Raw almost always had at least half of its program shown opposite WCW Monday Nitro (1995) every Monday. WWF and WCW competed for ratings so severely, especially during 1996, that the competition was called the "Monday Night Wars". WCW was owned by Ted Turner and run by Eric Bischoff. This turned into a legitimate ratings feud between Bischoff and WWF owner Vince McMahon. WCW fell into financial peril and was up for sale in 2001 by AOL Time Warner (Turner had lost sole ownership of the company after Turner Broadcasting Systems merger with Time Warner in 1996). The comments from DisTraction couldn't be more close minded, pig headed, and stupid. He did a perfect job of showing how truly stupid most people really are. You have the World Wrestling Federation a company that has a roster of around 50 big strong tough men who put their bodies at risk every night to entertain the fans. You don't hear them going on strike, unlike the other so called great sports. You have men putting out the effort to pour their blood, sweat, and tears into the business and sport they love. I'm not gay nor am I pervert I enjoy wrestling for the truly entertaining story lines, the great character, the excitement and intrigue, and for seeing athletes put on the finest demonstration of high risk taking every seen by man. I can't believe Distraction's comments not only are they insulting to me and all wrestling fans, but they truly show his ignorance because wrestlers don't wrestle in their underwear they are called tights, there's a difference, but watch the show and enjoy it don't go into it with a close mind
