A pleasant, if unremarkable documentary made to mark the 40th anniversary of the Carry Ons. Aimed at the general viewer rather than the hardcore fan, if you've been into the films for a long time, What's a Carry On will tell you nothing you don't already know. However, you would have to have a very hard heart not to be touched by the home movie footage of Sid or Joan's warm reminiscences. One thing that is nice about this documentary - and separates it from many others of its type - is that it doesn't just centre on the big stars or prime movers, it is great to see the lovely Norman Rossington enjoying the spotlight again, as well as unsung Carry On hero Terence Longdon, a great actor and a gracious man who grow up just down the road from me.
