Sex & Nudity

  • The PJs main setting is the projects, which is strife with crime and violence. Even for an animated sitcom this setting might offend some viewers, but all of it is portrayed in a comical and satirical fashion.
  • Very infrequent sexual references and content are sometimes present in episodes; but are mainly portrayed in a comic fashion.
  • Nudity is infrequent as well; mostly including bare buttocks (save for an episode where Mrs. Avery was nude half of the time; her offensive parts are blurred out for comic effect).
  • One of the characters, Bebe, is implied to once have a active sex life.

Violence & Gore

  • One episode depicts Thurgood being "shot" in a overdramatic manner for comic effect.

Profanity

  • Mild language such as damn and hell are sometimes peppered in the dialogue.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Smokey is a crackhead who Thurgood finds annoying; however his situation is portrayed in a comical light. A character known as "Rasta Man" is a stereotypical Jamaican that is a parody of a pot smoker and is often depicted as a white cloud for the sake of laughs.
  • Thurgood is known to drink a considerable amount of malt liquor.
  • Sanchez was a former chain smoker and as a result has to use a voice box.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • As said before, the main backdrop of The PJs is obviously the projects and will offend certain viewers due to it's satirical depictions of a run-down neighborhood.
  • While lighthearted and comical, there are some emotional moments at times (most prominent in the episode "The Preacher's Life").

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Violence is infrequent, but it's mainly in the form of slapstick. This includes several running gags like Ms. Avery brandishing her shotgun to ward off Thurgood or Sanchez getting hurt by various objects. Blood is never present, although one episode had a red puddle that was thought to be blood, but it was the ketchup from Juicy's hot dog .
