Reason's Why...

Author: cls241 from United States

Sorry for the post, was giving someone a link to one of my movies and found the comments here. I wanted to address a couple issues from prior posts.

The reason the HOTNESS was taken down a notch is the night before shooting Nina's mom found out about her "job" and it caused her to rethink things and I had to rewrite the movie in the hotel the night before in pencil and make copies and changes to the script. A lot of the scenes were cut out that made it a bit more "corrupt" and "nasty.".

I wrote it and directed as well, but I wrote under David Fields (long story on that name), but since I wrote more than I produced I wanted to keep it separate.

Jeanna Fine had not done movies before, and she had issues with having sexy with anyone not of her race, or that was bisexual (male) so that made it harder to complete the scenes. All odd since later in her career she did interracial movies and wound up with a bisexual (mostly gay) male.

The other sister I hired based on photos, and in the photos she was 40lbs lighter.

I was dating the cute black woman in the movie, so I let her play the part, sorry about that...

Ron Jeremy was not cast for the movie, but being a long time friend he conned me into letting him into the film.

The film was originally staring my long time friend John Holmes, but he contracted Aids and he wanted to do the movie anyway, even if not doing sex scenes, but the cast was a bit freaked out. Remember that the movie was shot in 1986 but VCA did not release it until 1991.

Did the best we could on the smaller budget and the (concerns) of the cast and the massive rewrite.

Oh, and the whole thing with the planes we had to let Joey run with it as the planes kept flying overhead (Mill Valley) and was not sure if I could edit it out, so we lived with it.

Regardless of everything Nina was very professional the whole time. Shanna McCullough has always been the sweetest of women and if I could I would have married her and ran away to some beach somewhere. You can't find anyone more professional, sexy and sweet. Joey of course is Joey, and that is what makes him great. My dear lost friend David Christopher from NYC... well I would not made it w/o him.

Too many people behind the scenes too, but you get the point. This was exhausting and fun and I would still do it over again (but different) if I could. I still hope someone enjoyed it!

Hot but could use more heat

Having seen many of the "Taboo" films the 70s and early 80s, this one definitely is more campy but it is still hot.

The casting is brilliant. The actors and actresses chosen absolutely fit the parts. The girls are gorgeous. I think having Nina Hartley as a mom would make any child think of incest or at the very least, do whatever was necessary to catch glimpses of her naked or having sex. :)

I have watched this movie several times and as much as I like it, I thought they could have heated things up in the following ways...

Had fewer or no scenes that didn't contain some incest. There were three long scenes that had no incest at all.

In the scene when mom catches her son and daughter having sex and the other daughter masturbating while watching, she sends her screwing daughter and son away and has sex with her masturbating daughter. That scene was hot but could have been hotter if everyone stayed and had fun.

The final scene when dad and his daughter go at it and the other daughter joins in is great but the girls didn't interact much and the father didn't alternate between the daughters.

The last lines of dialogue about "Aunt Karen" coming to visit created the possibility of a sequel. Too bad they never made one.

Of course, this is just my opinion. Great film over all though!

Okay but missed potential

The 80s were the golden age of porn, not just because of the better acting , the plots and the unshaven ladies, but also because it didn't flinch on the taboo subject matter, whereas the recent porn adds the word "step" to be safe.

This movie is decent in the "taboo" regard, with a couple of incestuous scenes (most notably a mother/daughter lesbian scene with Nina Hartley back when she still looked gorgeous), but the sex is more of the giddy, chuckely type than the scorching hot type. Furthermore there were several missed opportunities and the 'taboo' scenes themselves are unfortunately nothing special.

It doesn't help either that the two sisters/daughters are played by girls who don't exude much eroticism and don't have much sexual charisma. A big contrast with the more well known ladies in the movie, i.e. Nina Hartley, Shanna McCullough and Jeanna Fine.

It's always a shame when a movie does not seem interested in reaching its full potential and turning every scene in the best possible scene to be made of it, but as it stands "California Taboo" is an okay 80s porner of the "taboo" variety. No more, no less.

Ah, incest porn of the 80s. There are truckloads of them. A short list would include Taboo I-IV, Taboo American Style I-IV, Innocent Taboo, Backside to the Future I & II, Hannah Does Her Sisters, etc, etc. This is one of the best of the lot, primarily because it has that most rare of incest porn couplings: a mother/daughter scene. Now, we have plenty of examples of stepmother/stepdaughter, but very little of pure mother/daughter. It was common in incest dramas of the 70s to have a mother/daughter scene, but, almost always, they were interrupted by the father, or some other male. There are one or two exceptions, but, by and large, this is the case. But Nina Hartley (as mom) has a great mother/daughter scene here. And that (and the always welcome presence of Jeanna Fine) makes this video worthwhile.
