Not-bad adaptation.
1 May 2001 | by (Slagelse, Denmark) – See all my reviews

Veteran director Hans Kristensen revived his career with this adaptation of Jane Aamund´s bestseller "Klinkevals" set in 19th century Copenhagen, telling the story of strong-willed Juliane and her struggle for survival when her husband loses his mind and eventually his life. First starring role for stand up comedian Mette Lisby, who is excellent as Juliane, helped by a strong supporting cast, but the film is somewhat creaky and episodic at times, and Sebastian´s score also gets a bit monotonous. Nice period flavour, though. Followed by "JULIANE" in 2000.
