Another Battle on the Neretva
sobot12 June 2012
This movie depicts the building of a dam on the Neretva river, in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is mostly a piece of propaganda, explaining the "necessity" of communism to the masses. As opposed to this, I would recommend seeing "Crveno klasje" for a different view of the topic. On the other hand it is strange to recall the vigor people had in those times, and how quickly Yugoslavia rose from the ruins of war.

The movie also contains a spy subplot and a two-young-lovers subplot, none of which is very original. But on the other hand there are several very interesting scenes, such as the wedding scene, that announce the kind of wonderful movies that Lola Đukić was going to make in the future.

And one more thing: if you are a fan of Yugoslav movies, you should try to recognize some of the actors in their early roles, such as Milan Puzić, Dragomir Felba and Mića Tatić!
