This review is for UK DVD release of Torrid Cimax which is otherwise known as Midnight Woman. Our guardians of taste and decency, the BBFC mention Midnight Woman on their database but there is no mention of Torrid Climax - very strange, but more about the technicalities later.

Erotic drama would best describe the plot which revolves around a couple, Carol and Paul (Victoria Paris and John Dough) who are having marital problems. She has gone off sex because, it would appear, she is concerned and perhaps a bit envious about her sister Angie's (Samantha Strong) rather promiscuous lifestyle. This does not prevent Carol from dreaming of similar sexual fantasies. Paul devises a risky plan to cure Carol of her frigidity.

Porn actors are not going to win any Academy Awards for their Thespian prowess, but having seen a number of works from the cast of this piece, I have to say that this marks a new low. Everyone seems to say their lines as if by rote. The sex scenes have no doubt been cut to appease the BBFC. The BBFC website makes no mention of any cuts so one has to assume that any cuts were made before submission.

Technically, the DVD is a disaster. It appears to have been taken straight off a VHS along with the video flaws, which thankfully are few. The barely audible speech track has, in places, been overdubbed by music which is much too loud. Overall, I can think of nothing to recommend in this film. For UK viewers this is one to avoid. I award it a more than generous 1 star.
