I went to this film with no expectations at all, of any kind. All I knew was that it was a movie from chile and with some acting awards on it's shoulder, which was the reason I went to see it. I figured that a movie with acting awards really has something worth the ticket...

I was pleasantly surprised. I knew it was based on a novel. A lot of movies are based on novels and I never read them and I usually don't feel that the movie is truly faithfull to the atmosphere of the novel...In the case of Alexander Payne's Election, I felt that connection. Here is overwhelming.

Filled with details, you feel almost like if you were reading the book, word by word. The charachters are perfectly sketched, with top excellent performances by the complete cast. I've seen it twice now, I can guarantee you is terrific.

The cinematography and the weird sound desing only add to the gothic atmosphere of the book, and in it's slow pace, the film fins the way to tell this story and paint for us real human beings in a really painful story...

Amazing, not too many films like this one around.
