A Powerful document
12 May 1999 | by (BOSTON, MA) – See all my reviews

Nothing explicit is shown, only the descriptions of the horrors endured by a few survivors are heard. The sole images are of the ruins of the railway and a few brief excerpts from films taken at the time of its construction, but this is a powerful document recording one small element of Stalin's reign of terror. Also another testament to why Stalin was an even greater monster than Hitler. See this with the HBO docudrama 'Stalin' with Robert Duvall. The descriptions are difficult to listen to, but they deserve to be heard. How anyone survived is almost beyond conception.
