The 23 year old Oliver Hardy's screen character was on that grew gradually. In this film he is developing the Hardy look at the camera, as well as fiddling with his tie. Apart from that he's a bit of a non-descript at this stage.

A Cartoon Character
Single-Black-Male5 February 2004
The 23 year old Oliver Hardy looked like a cartoon character in this short film. He's not successful as a solo comedian, but he is developing his comedy. He's learned how to stare directly at the camera, spread a bashful smile across his face, and gesticulate with his hands and feet.
