Harvey Milk is first seen giving a campaign speech in 1977. He delivers a version of his famous "Hope Speech" that he did not first deliver until 1978. He is dressed in the white t-shirt and flower lei that Milk famously wore during the 1978 Gay Pride parade, not during his campaign when he always wore a suit. Signs behind him reference California's Proposition 6, the Briggs Initiative, which did not go on the state ballot until 1978 after Milk was elected. See more
